Yes lets hope not. Of course if they do recommission it may be the year after.

Leaving aside the argument about whether we exist after death or not I don't understand why you think anyone would be afraid of death who doesn't believe in life after death? I can understand people who do believe in life after death being afraid but not the other way around. We (non believers) may not want death to occur but that is not fear.

Unless of course you mean the actual dying process (pain and all that) which is understandable for anyone.

Yet you're alive, so you haven't had any proof whatsoever. There will never be proof because we need to be dead to see it, otherwise it's conjecture and delirium.

I think that there's a wide variety of reasons why people are afraid of dying. The most common one being fear of the unknown, most often felt by people who have no knowledge/view on the subject and who often dislike even talking about the it.

I myself aren't afraid of dying, but I am concerned about what I die of, what age I die and who I leave behind here when I go through the transition.

I don't agree, I have had proof time and time again eg by personally interacting in various ways with "dead" people. As I said before, I am a very practical down to earth person, who doesn't believe anything without seeing it for myself and I have,

I remember once visiting a friend called Bill. We got onto the subject and he asked me not to continue as it frightened him. We moved on to talk about something else, especially as he would be alone after we had left.

A few months later he "died" and came through to me in a Spiritualist church that I had visited, identified himself, and more or less referred to the evening in question. He said it was just as i'd described and that there was nothing to be afraid of after all, so, in the end I was pleased that i'd brought up the subject after all!

Obviously you haven't had proof of the continued existence of the human soul, so I can genuinely understand why you hold such a view.

At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter though, as the process will take place anyway. I don't subscribe to the scaremongering ideas of eg "if you are a non believer you won't pass" or "suicide means you will never pass".

All I care about in the main, is that no-one, including yourself, is afraid of dying, for whatever reason

Keep in mind that this program may not be shown on BBC Three, since this channels programming is going to be changed to become more main stream and to appeal more to both young and old.

I wouldn't expect it to return till the autumn (if it does) and I suspect that in part it depended on how well it went down in the states - it's just finished showing on BBC America last Sat

Its got a very good reception in the US, so it is very likely to be renewed one way or another:

Are they crazy?! Great viewing figures and reviews and it gets cancelled! I was sure we would get another series. Could another channel pick this up?

Although it did work as a single season story, I was so hoping there would be another series. Great characters, great mythology, great story telling, great acting.

At least it went out on a high.

Perhaps Sky?

Their supernatural drama Bedlam has been renewed even though it isn't a patch on The Fades - not that I'm complaining as Bedlam was pretty darn good.

Or could there be a US remake that could run with the idea? Won't be the same - but could work.

This is shocking, I actually thought it was a sure thing. I mean it ticked everything, good international sales, high ratings, great reviews. Terrible decision by the BBC.

It was one of the best things on the Beeb for ages. Real shame. Hope another channel picks up it.

What a joke of a decision ...

The BBC have been hunting high and low for decent quality prime time shows and when they get one land right on their doorstep they go and cancel it at the first opportunity.

The dumbing down of British TV continues at a pace.

I hear that BBC3 had to choose between making a second series of 'The Fades' and another series of 'Being Human' as the License Fee freeze means that there simply isn't the money to make both.

That's a terrible decision to have to make, and I wouldn't be any more happy if it had gone the other way either.

That's just the way it is now, I suppose.

That means it's not likely to show up this year but isn't the same as saying it will never come back / has been axed. Could be budget constraints or could be channel re-branding or could just be the Olympics impact on this years schedules

I am astounded The Fades has been axed. It was a really good idea and well scripted. I was looking forward to the next series to see what happens. If it is to do with money I am sure there are plenty of other programmes that could have been taken off. It appears that anything that isn't mainstream gets third rate treatment.
