Can it be done?

Many thanks and Happy New Year to all.

Adverts usually come up when you get an app for free. The way to stop them appearing is to visit the market and buy the paid for version of the app that has the annoying adverts.

If you are rooted, you can try AdFree. If you don't know what root is, you probably don't have it.

I'm not sure if by 'pop-up ads' you mean ads that appear in the notification bar, but if so, these are usually provided by Airpush who provide an opt-out app here, alternatively you can do it manually here if you don't want to install the app.

Here's an airpush detector, I I think it tells you which apps are causing it.

Turn off your internet connection, that sometimes works.

Thanks for the replies. I'll check out them out. I have no idea if I am rooted!

Uninstall the app causing it.

Android is a traditional computer so along with unrestricted/uncensored choice, a user can more easily install malware.
