Yes, I read that today on a DA site. There was a statement that "Julian Fellowes has written another brillant character in Martha Levinson (Shirley MacLaine) who will be a wonderful combatant for Maggie Smith's Dowager Countess.". . . As caustic as Shirley MacLaine can be, she is no match for Maggie Smith. I think what their thinking is to bring in more of an American audience to view this series as well as buy the dvds $$$$. I hope BP takes note. While I don't particularly want any American actors to invade this series, maybe some actors need to come on board in S6 in a more combatant role towards DM or LG.

Thank you, madmother, for this long awaited news! I really enjoyed all the photos and videos the fans posted who visited Port Isaac during the filming of S5 from April through July, 2011 and then seeing S5 here. Just think in about 14 months from now they will be back to PI to film S6!
You know, I think if we all end up in Port Isaac in 2013...we could have a seriously good time. We're a rare breed, but it's the die-hards like us that have the most fun. :cool:

Boy, I already want to book a Port Isaac B&B. This is great news! I really plan crossing the pond for this, too!
I hope I can save and plan a trip to Port Isaac and watch the filming. Wouldn't it be great for a bunch of fans to get together out there. How wishful is that! LOL
Will be so looking forward to some more Doc Martin episodes.

I remember a lot of speculation in late 2010 and early 2011, before they started filming. I think this time we should keep track of the speculation and have a kind of prize -- perhaps a 2014 Doc Martin (or Martin Clunes) calendar -- for whoever gets the closest to say, the time elapsed between S5 and S6, or what happens to Mrs. T., or how many episodes it takes before DM and LG actually marry, etc., etc.
But guessing (for a prize) probably should stop when the first casting calls go out, because they tell us a lot, like the age James Henry will be, e.g.
