Has now launched on Hotbird, 12:245, encrypted but opens with a Al Jazeera Sports card, it seems to be all in arabic but hopefully Al Jazeera will launch 1 & 2 on Hotbird eventually.

HD1 and HD2 would be great, is the lack of space the problem for Al Jazeera not launching their full group of channels?

I don't think so.

Hotbird 9 is quite powerful, has a massive payload.

Al jazeera run on two transponders.

What amazed me was when they took over ART, they got rid of nearly all the transponders bar 1. so they had their own and one of ART's. you'd have thought they'd have used some of the other transponders for HD1, HD2, 1 and 2 and the trial run on 3D. as well as the ESPN, NBA TV channels also.

However I shall take a peek on lyngsat now:

EDIT: it seems sport news is sat on the same transponder as global. this is tieing in with badr6 and nilesat. however that transponder is run by globecast and not their own.

I'be been waiting those 2 HD for ages, don't know why all the sat have it but not hotbird...

Only Nilesat has it.

Badr-6 doesn't have it either. you'd think being hotbird is one of the major locations for TV, that al Jazeera would release the whole package as you'd get on Nilesat.
