Cambridge is due between March and July 2012, it is one of the first towns to be upgraded from 30MB to 60MB for existing customers, I am not sure if it is done though

Enter this Postcode CB2 1SJ on this website www.virginmedia.com/doublespeed
For further information

Please Note: It is not my Postcode, just one I know of in Cambridge

I am due to be upgraded in July

Does anyone know what will happen when July comes and I get upgraded and an engineer needs to come out to swap the Modem for a Superhub,
will we be paying for this - Installation Fee wise?

Newcastle, Ashford, Ipswich, Dundee, Belfast and Cambridge are apparently the the first areas to get the speed increase.

Don't forget that existing 100MB Broadband customers will start to see faster Broadband speeds from June 2012 when they will be upgraded to 120MB Broadband

As an aside, some BT Infinity customers have already had their speeds doubled "for free", and it only went 'live' at midnight. Many of the others who have reported in the BT forums tonight have been given a date of Friday this week, the longest wait I have seen mentioned so far is 5 days.

That's what I call a fast rollout.

Wow. That is fast compared to VM's snail pace.

Probably because BT Infinity has already rolled out in some areas (and with it the necessary infrastructure upgrades to support it and the doubled speeds).

My upgrade message says;
"Time to limber up for double speeds. My fittest, fastest engineers will be in your area between March and April."

I will need a new modem so I assume something will happen in the next 18 days.

I will keep you posted (holding breath?)

Seems like they ran out of those and we're left with the unfittest and fattest.

I wouldn't trust that website. It states Cardiff will be upgraded late next year when the two CSAs I've talked to on the phone say April to May.

CS are not necessarily the best people to tell about you (or be aware of) the latest news.

But then again BT have invested £2B in their infrastructure to support it.
VM are struggling to update their throttling to support their rollout.

(and I loath BT - they set the low CS standards to which VM successfully aspired)
