Agreed. Does Shearer really expect that to happen? Man Utd would be laughing their socks off at the lack of togetherness. Of course the players should celebrate with him.

Aside from George Best and the obvious stuff associated with him he has been nothing more than a rent-a-quote any time we as a club have had any sort of controversial issue. Personally (and sorry for prob offending you here!!) if asked to finish the sentence 'My most hated person in football is ......., I'd say Alex Ferguson (remember we once fell out over him big style ) but that does not mean I will not read anything about him. I have not read his autobiography (Managing my life isn't it?) but have read the Crick book and another by Holt about him and Shanks comparing the two.

I think it is good to educate myself about these matters - and tbf especially the Crick book informed me of some good things about him that I did not know as well as bad things too..

How do you form your views of TD? Are you sure they are fair? Mind you i guess stuff in his autobiography may not be regarded as exactly unbiased either!!

I will stand alone with this opinion Alan. I think the man is a disgrace.I accept it may be irrational but there you are.

I don't use the C word in polite conversation but i will happily make an exception for him.

I remember him in any media source that would pay him when Cantona attacked the fan. I remember him when we sold Ince, Hughes and Kanchelskis. He was there ready to put the boot in to SAF left right and centre. It would be ok if he had passed the Arse/elbow differential test while managing us but he didn't.

Im not going to go any further, i could fill pages on him. He is a charlatan of the highest order and id happily pull the pages out of the "Official History of MUFC" that he hand any part of.

I really haven't looked that deeply into what others think, maybe SAF likes him tbh, i have no idea. He doesn't seem to comment in public.

My hatred of KD is not even a hatred, its just fun. I KNOW KD is a good man. He should be knighted. I live in an area where he has done great things for charity with his wife. His actions re Hillsborough mean a knighthood should have been automatic. I don't rate him as manager but thats not really on the same level. Its all good fun.

TD on the other hand........he is a repugnant human being who should never be allowed an opinion on a club he was damn lucky to manage IMO.

Am not a Man utd fan so i obviously dont know the in outs, but i am old enough to remember when he won the cup in 77, (the only trophy they won in 70s btw) and that was against all the odds by beating amn all conquering Liverpool, team who had won League and won the european cup few days later , and yet after all that was sacked for running off with the wife of physio , which is hardly a sackable offence really
turns out that Matt busby didnt ike it and he was alledged to have upset the Catholic community which busby was one, thing is , (and lets give credit to docherty here) he did wait till after Sir matt had died to say this in print anyway Busby had affairs when the Team played in London , this is his side although they may be other side, too, also the Louis Edwards scandal is also in it,

Back ijn the 90s he did an affter dinner speak at Leeds, in which i went to had everybody in stiches , and at the end of the night got a standing ovation, which not many managers would get at Er

If you are intresting in reading about Football in 60s/70s then its an excellent read, but understand if some might not like it ,

Last year there was a book called Clough/Revie which i really enjoyed but some Leeds fans did not , so i guess its what you want to read and what you dont, .
