Something happened something never saw friction something are still up in the air. The scene just never grew most developers where bitchy, anyone truly interested and able to do things where bombarded with moans and request for piracy abilities. There is still people working on it but in reality nothing that is worthwhile. Would of been amazing to have scene much like the WII has really but that did not happen and just won't happen.

Piracy has been possible for months now. I've not been following much news, but have read the odd headline about a new product that patches and allows new games that Uc3 Batman AC Mass effect 3 are all working. So no the PS3's security while lasted a very long is not secure.

The cell is immune from all types of hardware based attacks. Ofcourse poor software implementation by sony allowed the hackers a chance

Piracy has been possible for months now. I've not been following much news, but have read the odd headline about a new product that patches and allows new games that Uc3 Batman AC Mass effect 3 are all working. So no the PS3's security while lasted a very long is not secure.

It's not very secure because sony's engineers screwed their crypto signing keys and metloader fiasco.

But to this day there is no Custom firmware to current ps3 firmware and psn as a result is free from such hackers

The hypervisor part was largerly hardware based.,existing firmware combinations can also be downgraded to a custom firmware. The hardware was compromised with Geohots original hack and even more so with the custom firmware hack. The CFW hacks allow dev's the possibility to see how PS3's hardware security works, therefore it has been compromised.

But then again Elan Morin your the most awesomest PS3 programmer in the world so everything you say about the PS3 must be right.

So, ...everything happened as I called it? I remember old arguments on here where I outright said the PS3 hacking scene was pathetic and most of them were there to make a name for themselves instead of actually helping out unlike the PSP Hacking Scene and yet there was people on here saying how wrong I was and how the scene would pick up after the Ego centric people left.

The cell security still works to this day because there is no custom firmware right now for new firmware. the fort is still secure from that aspect. And my point still stands. If it were not for sony's poor quality control and software implementation the ps3 would have been unhacked to pirates to this day.


For the playstation 4 if sony decides to go with the cell again it would mean they would not need to spend money on R&D for a new security system. They can improve and build upon what they have now and add new layers of security. Another advantage to using their current processor
