The Sin City sequel is now official, with Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller announcing today that the film will begin production this summer in Austin. The title will be Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame To Kill For.
According to a press release, "the script and details of the film's story have been kept tightly under wraps. Casting will begin next week, with many of the original cast expected to return." The film was "developed by Frank Miller based upon his graphic novel, with a screenplay by Frank Miller and Academy Award winner William Monahan (The Departed)."

Glad they're finally ready to start filming - I've been looking forward to this since seeing the first one. Production will start after Machete 2 finishes filming, so that's 2 films for me to look forward to next year

Mel Gibson and Michelle Williams are rumoured to be up for roles.

I don't see why they state that the script and film's story are under wraps, you can to your nearest Forbidden Planet and pick it up in Novel Form!

I hope it isn't just A Dame To Kill For, the first film managed to fit in The Hard Goodbye, The Big Fat Kill and That Yellow Bastard, as well as having some parts from The Salesman. A Dame To Kill For certainly wasn't longer than any of those, the longest story was the trippy Hell And Back, which could easily be it's own film.

Michael Madsen has confirmed his return.

"Iím doing the sequel to Sin City. That would be Sin City 2. Iím going to Ft. Worth, Texas, and there is supposed to be some sort of a symposium or some Sin City panel where weíre going to talk about the film. Iím looking forward to that, too."

"[Rourke is] all excited to come back, but he's probably the first one," Rodriguez told MTV of returning players. "I saw Rosario [Dawson] too. I ran into her for something else, and she's pumped. They've always been excited about doing another one, so that will be fun."

I just can't understand why this has taken so long .

I wonder who they'll get for the Dame tho ? Angelina Jolie would've been perfect a few years ago

I can't believe it's actually happening. They've been saying since the release of the first film that they're making a sequel. I had given up hope!

It's such a shame Brittany Murphy is no longer with us, as her character Shelly is the only one to appear in all the comic strips.

Good news.

Went into the first one expecting to hate it.

Loved it.

Great news. Watched the first one at college about 5 years ago so will be great to finally get a sequel.

Release date - October 4, 2013.

Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller are co-directing the movie, which is scheduled to shoot this summer in Austin Texas. Jessica Alba will be back as Nancy Callaghan. The film will be converted to 3D.

Clive Owen is the latest to confirm his involvement. Rodriguez is meeting with some big names to join the cast this week. Hopefully, not Angelina Jolie (unless she's started eating again since the last time we saw her.)

If it's going to be converted to 3D afterwards then I won't bother. I probably wouldn't have bothered with 3D anyway since the first one was so good in "plain" 2D.

Thinking about it, Sin City's hyper-stylized visuals (which I presume they're carrying on with), might be the sort of thing that's nicely suited to 3D. They could certainly have fun with it.

Production will start after Machete 2 finishes filming....
Thereís a sequel to that dog?!?!?! In Godís name why? Easily one of the worst films Iíve seen in the last 20 years. Rodriguez needs to prove he can still cut it with Sin City 2 and that heís not been terminally infected with Tarantinoitis: The inability to competently direct whilst simultaneously thinking every line of dialogue you write is brilliant and cannot be edited.

Sucker Punch actress Jamie Chung will play mute assassin Miho, replacing Devon Aoki from the first film.
