Championship to Pl champions in 10 years
Unless Man city lose to Qpr, they will be Crowned Pl Champions next Sunday, if you had said to their fans when they were promoted in 2000 this would happen they would have sent for the white coats
remember this is a club who were up and down in the bottom half of the pl, C/ship and league one as well, and never threatened the top 10 never mind the top 4 , few years ago people were saying that the champions league places would be Chelski(tho they wouldnt be there without a sugar daddy either) Arsenal, liverpool and Mu , so now thats been smashed surely its not impossible for a Championship, or even L1 club to get some one in and take them right to the top , You only have to look at Newcastle to see how it could be done 3 years ago they were playing likes of Brighton, next season could be Barcelona Withdean to Nou camp in 3 years ![]() Remember neither city or chelsea were a name in world football before theis sugar daddys arrived , & there are enough big name clubs in the Championship who have recent history in the last 30 odd years , so whos to say it wont happen again |

Sad thing is these days it is only going to be possible for clubs to do this sort of thing if they have mega-rich owners.
Whereas in the past teams have managed to get promoted to the top flight and then become champions within 2-3 years of getting there - teams like Forest, Derby and Leeds all did it in the past - since the advent of the Premier League the gulf between the top of the Premier League and the Championship is now so huge it takes £100s of millions to do it. But hey, if that's what it now takes and someone is willing to do it, good luck to em. It's the only way fans of many clubs could ever dream of seeing their club challenging at the top so I doubt I'd complain if it happened to my club. |

The sad fact is that other fans won't be able to have the same dream come true as city fans due to the current UEFA financial rules coming into effect

It is a greater achievement for team on a limited budget to make it into the Premiership and finish in the top half of the table.

Still someway to go to beat Nott'm Forest's achievement of Div 2 to Div 1 Champions then European Cup Winners then retain the European Cup.

To say that Chelsea wouldn't have been in a CL position without their 'sugar daddy' is wrong. |

Had Chelsea lost to Liverpool on the last day of the 02-03 season, would that defeat and faliure to qualify for the Champions League have influenced Abramovich's decision to buy Chelsea?

True... and Didn't Blackburn do it a lot quicker than Man City...
in my eyes they will always be the team I watched get spanked 3-1 by Lincoln City in the League Cup... |

Doubt it. He probably would have got Chelsea at a lower price had they not qualified. The London location still made it appealing.

They had played in the CL before Roman arrived.
Also, it wasn't the Championship last time Man City were in it, it was called Division 1. |
