It'd be a shame if they did scrap the storyline because of a few idiots getting upset about something that, whether they like it or not, is part of real life. Chris is one of the best characters in Neighbours atm, I'm looking forward to seeing his relationship with Aiden develop.

Me too.
I love Chris and I've enjoyed what I've seen of Aiden so far.
Some of the vile comments I read on that Facebook page prove exactly why storylines like this are necessary and important so I hope Neighbours are brave enough to follow through with what they started.

I wouldn't go that far.

Chris is shy and inexperienced and in the most recent Aus pace episodes been nervous and a little awkward. This is in keeping with the way his character has been in the past. Despite this he is seems very attracted to Aidan and clearly wants to see him again.

Their scenes together have been really really ace (and unbelievably adorable!). They both really do seem to be attracted to each other, and Aidan has a really strong gay/sexual/flirty vibe that certainly makes my gaydar go off.

They appear to be together now but it's apparently happened offscreen . Chris tells Jade that he and Aiden cannot attend her singles bootcamp because they are neither straight nor single. There were no scenes prior to this where the boys agree to be 'boyfriends'. Neighbours have just completely skipped this part. Considering this is Chris's first experience with dating a guy, the actual part where they get together is important for Chris's story yet they completely skipped past it. Feels like a cop out to me and I hope it's not a sign of things to come because I've really enjoyed their storyline up until now.

Anyway, I'm really missing Chris in the UK pace episodes at the minute. Micheal, Kate, Priya and Sophie bore the hell out of me. More Chris, Aiden and Tash please!

The thing I was disappointed about was simply one throwaway line in an episode where Chris and Aidan (and Lucas for that matter) were included as a bit of comedy filler and tank tops eye candy. The real purpose of the scene was to show Kate making a play for Kyle. It does not preclude further development of the relationship or a kiss. Aidan and Chris were very chummy in the workout though Aidan did do a flirty doubletake with that Asian guy in the blue top.

'Neighbours' (and most other soaps I'm sure) does sometimes skip over things and then goes back to that story. Maybe just a scripting mistake. Like, didn't Tash angrily 'wipe' Chris? I never saw that issue resolved, yet now they are back to being pals as if nothing happened.

I put that down to Bower. It really can't be a network Ten thing when a rival channel airs the same thing in the same slot under the same rating - it has to be Bower being overly cautious. I hope the new EP will be less cautious and more edgy with Chris & Aidan, taking note of what other shows are doing in the same slot, b/c having a full on kiss on one channel, and a full on kiss shoved into the background on another, isn't fair.

As individual characters, I like them, but as a couple they are kinda dull, and that's b/c they don't do anything. As a couple, they neither do any couple-y things, or have any storylines together. In the end, I really believe they'll be disappointing.

IMO the writers should learn from this - write Aidan out and bring in a boyfriend for Chris who he DOES have chemistry with. They don't work together because we haven't seen their relationship build and like you say they don't do anything coupley together. The writers have given them minimal screentime and unfortunately the storyline has suffered big time.

Well of course it is not a Network Ten thing, since Ten brought us 'Number 96', 'The Box', 'Prisoner', 'The Secret Life of Us', and 'Big Brother'. The 'Big Brother' daily show was G rated, but every series (2001-2008) featured at least one non-heterosexual housemate. The other shows were soaps filled with non heterosexual characters and had been some of Ten's most popular shows.

Susan Bower seems super touchy about any criticism. That is clear from her quotes to the press. It got to the point where, say a gay character would be introduced, she'd go to the press with martyr like declarations 'I do believe homophobia is still alive and well, and I have no doubt that we will get complaints about it.' Even her comments after the Parkers left were self serving and defensive, and she insisted the Parkers were only added because the fans insisted they wanted a new family. In that case she later implied the unpopular new family wasn't down to her, it was the fans' fault as they asked for it.

Her comments about homophobia really annoyed me. If fans do complain about the show's gay characters, it is not like she's the one experiencing homophobia herself. She is a soap producer and should be able to take (and ignore) fans complaining. Dumb thing is, people haven't even complained about Chris Aidan as far as I know.

I believe Bobby Morley left to play a role in feature film Blinder http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1874434/ - and with that cast list, you can see why he would!

However it has since been hinted he's back at the 'Neighbours' studio.
