Just like I wrote on the main article for this, why can't they just have 3 judges like they did when the show first started? If they are having trouble finding a 4th person then why have 4?

I have to agree. I think the show would work much better and it would maybe create some interest by shaking up the format.

Because there is one more category since season 4. When there were three judges the categories were Unders, Over and Groups. However there is no reason why they can't have three judges in the audition rounds.

That doesn't mean they can't change the format. I would adjust the categories to Males, Females and Groups. The Overs category is just ridiculous now, rarely any good talent comes through (except Kitty Brucknell and Mary Byrne).

All 4 categories could still be represented. Just have the 3 judges have one act from each. That way as well every judge has a pretty good chance at winning and won't get their ass handed to them by having a bad category (i.e. Paula Abdul with the Groups).

What would be good is if instead of all singers and managers, they had a judge who actually DEALS with music.
In my opinion, a great choice would be a DJ, someone like Reggie Yates, Scott Mills etc. They know what sells, what gets airplay and what you need to be successful. If choosing a performer, I'd love to see Kelly Clarkson fill the role as she is an incredible role model. |

The problem is, if no fourth judge is announced the press will run with the story that no-one will commit to it giving the show negative headlines again and in many ways that's what harmed the show last year. The producers need to get their act together. Obviously all these stories are 'sources say this that and other' so who knows what's happening. |

Rod is a big name BUT I worry that the main viewerbase I.E tweens and teens won't really have a clue who he is (like the rumours that Chaka Khan wanted on the US panel, worldwide superstar but younger viewers might not know her)

Well most tweens and teens knew who Kelly Rowland was, and look what happened there. |

The programme is not made for one demographic. It's a Saturday night family show.

This suggestion has been raised before. I think it would be good to shake the show up a bit but it wouldn't as simple to implement. Then again I do think the show needs some major format changes and this could be it.

I'm a Rod Stewart fan - but WHY THE HELL is he doing it?? Wasn't he caught out on Radio slagging the show off when he last mentored the contestants in Series 3? He said they were all sh** - when he thought the mic was off.

I have seen Rod in concert in the last few years, he has a fantastic set. Have to say though the average age of the audience was certainly in the fifties and there was more than one zimmer frame in evidence. Interesting choice though.

He's only filling in for one or two episodes. Why all the drama?
