Apologies - I've got to head out now. A shame because I'd love to sit here and argue the toss over why the countryside should be as free to sustain its heritage and follow its ambitions as those in the towns - few things get me more riled up than those who argue otherwise - but it'll have to wait.

So they can easily afford to pay back the tax payers' money which DEFRA has to spend on this pointless research, then?
