Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the wall
A sequel to Kick Ass has been announced and is due for release in 2012.
According to IMBD returning for the sequel are Chloe Moretz ... Mindy Macready / Hit-Girl Lyndsy Fonseca ... Katie Deauxma Aaron Johnson ... Dave Lizewski / Kick-Ass Christopher Mintz-Plasse ... Chris D'Amico / Mother ****er Clark Duke ... Marty Omari Hardwick ... Sergeant Marcus Williams (rumored) Evan Peters ... Todd It's interesting that there is a change in character. In the first Christopher Mintz played Red Mist but now he is called Mother ****er. I'm not sure what to make of that. It comes across as being an cheap way to get the word mother****er used a lot in a film. Personally I would have prefered it if Kick-Ass wasn't in this film as IMO his story was told. |

Kick Ass 2 hasn't even been confirmed. It's just rumours and Mark Millar is the biggest bullshitter ever! He talks a load of balls as far as i'm concerned! It's either complete lies or half-truths with him.

I think that is a bit harsh on Mark Millar but I found this on Moviehole.net about Kick Ass 2:
"According to Mark Millar (means a lot, I know), "Kick-Ass 2" has been officially greenlit. Talking to BBC's Radio Five, Millar said (and thanks to Bleeding Cool and IO9 for the words) : ''The estimate is [Kick-Ass] will do 100 to 150 million on DVD based on the American sales, you know, so it’ll end up making a quarter of a billion on a 28 million investment. So It should be okay. So the sequel’s greenlit, we can go ahead and do the follow up now, you know. The first made so much compared to what it cost it would be crazy not to" Considering "Kick-Ass" was lucky to score $100m, not to mention director Matthew Vaughn's commitment to "X-Men : First Class", the sequel to the 2010 flick is - despite what it's author says - a long ways off yet, I'd think." |

I prefer the name Red Mist - calling his character motherf*cker sounds cheap.

i think it was always going to happen really, and considering how much i loved the first one, i'm very happy.
i think it's far, far too early to judge how they're going to handle the motherf***er character as well. the studio could well decide to just continue calling him red mist .. |

Re: Red Mist's new name.
It is very cheap and I wouldn't be surprised if they don't go through with that name if it was ever their intention. I do however like the idea of him using another name instead of Red Mist. It kind of makes sense. Assuming that he is going to be the villain in the film then by changing his name he would be considered someone else. As he knows the identities of Kick-Ass and Hit Girl he would have an advantage over them. Red Mist is a cool name though. |

I was wondering about Red Mist's new name since reading about Kick Ass 2 on IMDB earlier yesterday. I did have a cheap toilet humour chuckle to myself - as the site keeps refering to the new name and links to the actor!!
my copy of Kick Ass came yesterday and have been enjoying it. Enjoyed it more at the cinema though - and its not as good 2nd time around. got a steel book version - so pretty happy with that. |

I was at the UK premiere of the film in Glasgow at which Mark Millar, Aaron Johnson and Christopher Mintz-Plasse all attended. At a Q&A before the film, Millar said the sequel had already been greenlit and that Red Mist's new character name of Mother****er was only there so people stopped shouting McLovin at him when he walked down the street and instead people would shout Mother****er at him

Main cast members are all close to signing on for the sequel. Kick-Ass 2 will begin shooting in the fall for a reported May 2013 release date.
Good news

My only concern is that if it closely follows the Kick-Ass2 storyline in the comics (yes..that's already happened), then Chloe Moretz is now a tad too old to play Hit-Girl, unless they update the screenplay accordingly..
If they DO follow the storyline, then the final showdown is going to be absolutely mental!!

The Kick Ass 2 comic book was awful, hopefully they'll change things up like they did for the first one and it'll be half watchable.

Shooting starts in a few days time & Mark Millar has confirmed that the title isn't going to be "Balls to the wall". Jim Carrey has also signed up for a small role in the film.
