Xbox 720 'concept images'

The rumour mill is a-turning at MSN.com:

http://tech.uk.msn.com/features/xbox...images#image=1

So, what do you guys and gals think?

Personally, If this, or similar, did turn out to be the new Xbox I definately wouldn't buy it. The pyramid shape and size is far too obstructive and the lack of a disc drive is also a put off.

Everything I need in a console is not there, so perhaps this spells the end of consoles for me.

Oh dear. A console designed as the illuminati pyramid with the "all seeing eye"... That would be about right, I would be against that design as a matter of principle.

Nah 'fraid not. The N64 was the last console I had from them and its been down hill since...IMHO .

Where are the freaking air vents on that thing? Nothing can be seen from the top-down view. Either MS are going back to 8-bit or they're going all out for 100% RROD this time.

Good luck MS.

I quite like it

It's nice to have something different every once in a while - just hope for a black model.

If it looks like that and is a fully kitted out with tech, I'll buy one.

That design doesnt do much for me, I must say This is another article about the 720 if anyone is interested. It has other concept images. The second, black number looks quite sexy imo . I doubt microsoft have anything to do with it though.

Hope the new consoles don't sway towards downloads only. That would be the final nail in the coffin for console gaming.

You realise these images are actually from some fantasist designer with no engineering skills?

I think people realise its not for real, no harm in having an opinion on it.

Doesn't look very practical as a modern multimedia hub - assuming that Microsoft continue in the same vain as the 360.

If the new Xbox ends up looking like that then I'll eat my hat covered in lashings of Hot sauce.

I predict I won't have to do that!

Remember the original X shape for the very first Xbox?

Looks all very swish but total a pain to fit into your media stand etc...I care more for what it does, not what it looks like, keep the basic dimensions as it is.

Negatives:
Looks like it needs a lot of shelf space. Can't stack it up with my other kit.
Mandatory kinect? I really dislike standing there waving my hands about. I do like conventional controllers.
Speaking of which, there are no conventional controllers shown - do we controll it with that touch screen phone-like thing or is that just a windows mobile synced into yoru profile?
No discs? I do like to have something physical in my hand when I spend the thick end of £50, but I could get used to that. But only having one source to buy the software (sorry, apps) means that they will have a monopoly and will set their own prices. And an end to 2nd hand games.

Positives:
Always nice to have a shiny new toy I guess.

I have a feeling that's the way it's going. It'll all be Cloud this 'n that. Preowned will be no more and MS, Sony and game devs make even more money.

It'll be a shame when that day finally comes almost an end of an era.
