It would be interesting to see how many complaints there were about Hostel shown free on 5 at 10pm the other night. Any child with a TV in their bedroom could watch if they kept the sound down.

For those who don't know, the film is torture porn. A group students (it's always students) are touring Eastern Europe and stop off at a hostel where they are taken captive and used as playthings for paying sadists. They are then tortured in inventive and graphic ways. There is a scene at the end with an eyeball but I will spare sensitive readers the details.

Point is it is far worse than a bit of breast, but anyone with a television could access it, not just people with subscription TV.

At the same time of night adult sex channels that can be locked out, are clearly labelled and are pushed into high numbered channels cannot show full frontal nudity, use sexual language, make hand gestures or drip skin lotion suggestively. (Let alone lick an ice lolly like in the Lynx ad).

I see Mediawatch changed their name from the National Viewers and Listeners Association founded by Mary Whitehouse.

Channel 4 has been showing A Room With A View in the afternoons for years - those men's bums and willies flopping all over the shop in the pond scene must have mysteriously passed Mediawatch by.

I find it completely bizarre that if you go to pretty much any beach in Europe you are very likely to see a lady sunbathing topless but show a film during the day with a topless lady and the morals of the nation are permanently and irreversibly corrupted!

Besides which there is no reason why such a film can't be shown at that time of the day, as has already been pointed out it carries a PG rating.
There is also a topless sunbathing scene and a naked child in The Green Ray, which is PG rated and was shown at 11am when I recorded it, but then it's a French film.
