The Wii U Pro Controller might just have sealed the deal for me.
So glad we can play the traditional way if we want to, rather than with a gimmicky controller...good work Nintendo!

It's obvious the Gamepad is where all the magic's gonna be. The creation of the Controller Pro will help Nintendo gain some support from mainstream gamers who will look to use it in the inevitable upcoming Black Ops 2 etc but the Gamepad will offer so much more functionality over a brick like that (while still retaining the same level of control) and I suspect Nintendo won't even support the Controller Pro on some of it's titles.
I still like the idea of attaching the Gamepad to the gun to be used in something like Aliens Colonial Marines. The idea of an external object functioning as a weapon within the game giving ammo read out's, motion tracking, crazy sound fx and even video feed (like Dead Space) etc is just such a cool idea. That's the kind of innovation I hope to see. I also wonder if we will be able to play B/C Wii games on the Gamepad screen too? I hope so. |

Also... It seems the Wii U will definitely be available in black too.

It has to be said that the next gen Mario/Zelda games along with loads of confirmed 3rd party titles will all make full use of the Gamepad or motion controls in more than one way, we know this, that's obvious, Nintendo are moving forwards not backwards, so I wouldn't get too hung up on using a bog standard controller for everything. You only need to look at last gen to see Nintendo are not afraid to remove traditional controller support from their games completely
That Gamepad has so much potential!

I didn't want to re-buy a Wii just because it came in a different colour. |

Only seen the DS article on this so haven't read all what was mentioned at the conference but I really like the look of the Pro Controller. Does have the Xbox controller look but I find that the most comfortable, but I guess it's also like a streamlined version of the Wavebird. Looks really nice and I'm also glad it will be available in black. |

They've really embraced social networking at the heart of this, and the "second screen" that broadcasters are always going on about. If it works as well as the video suggested, then this is going to be fantastic. Very pleased the Miiverse is coming to 3DS too, hopefully all the accounts will be linked.@Ash I agree it has the potential to be abused - but so does every forum on the Web. I assume Nintendo will put parental controls in, allowing it to be locked down to "friends only" and having to explicitly enable interaction with non-friends. They'd be crazy not to, given the family-friendly image Nintendo has. Video calling random people really is not something under 18s should be doing! |

It'll just be like the security system on the 360, where the parent account can change any (privacy) setting on the child's account.
--- Also, I think (read: pray) that the Pro controller will work with every game, and Nintendo will simply state that 'you're not getting the full experience' if your not using the tablet controller. People will have to actively seek out the Pro controller and pay the extra £20/£30 for it so it's a win-win for Nintendo. |

Really impressed with what Nintendo showed - the new controller looks like a huge improvement, and I appreciate the fact that they'll also be supporting a more traditional pad.
It really does feel like Nintendo have finally gotten their mojo back - can't wait for tomorrow! |

I think the Pro Controller finally just sold the concept to me.
I think I'll probably get the console. Sounds good. Especially looking forward to the inevitable Mario Kart Wii U! ![]() Miiverse for the 3DS sounds interesting too. |
