i finally decided to order a GBA and F-Zero on import last week and they arrived a couple of days ago and i have to say it is fantastic (and also got Mario Advance as a birthday present last week) - if anyone is interested in getting one, then i would say import, and for the following reasons...

http://www.lik-sang.com are now selling the GBA for US$98 and Mario/F-Zero are priced at US$45 - this means you could get a GBA + either of those titles for US$143 - about a 100 quid!

delivery is a little extra ($12 for standard delivery - which took 5 days for me - or about $10 extra for 2-4 day delivery), but even then the total price is under 110 quid - the UK price hasn't been confirmed yet (suggestions range from 75-100 quid for the console alone) but if the US price of $99 is anything to go by it could well end up at the top end of that range (as we all know $1 = 1GBP where computer games are concerned ) - and that's for the console alone

after playing F-Zero most of the way through for the last two days i've had absolutely no problems with the Japanese as there is very little (it's mainly on the menus, but you can get a translation guide from http://www.gamefaqs.com) - Mario also has little Japanese, and other games such as Chu Chu Rocket (which i shall be getting next) actually have a full english option (reviews on places like http://pocket.ign.com will tell you whether or not the game is playable/how much Japanese it contains, etc)

my games/console are Japanese which mean the box/instructions were only in Japanese, but the ones Lik-Sang are selling now are from Hong Kong so they also have english instructions (this is what i have been told anyway - if you do end up with a Japanese console then it doesn't really matter too much unless your someone who does actually read them!!)

..and you should have no problem with customs either as the package is pretty small (i thought it was a couple of DVDs!) and Lik-Sang mark it up so as to avoid exrtra charges

the price of import games should also not be too bad - the copy of Mario Advance was bought from http://www.divineo.co.uk for 30 quid (with free delivery), which is gonna be the same kind of price as UK games (although they have very limited stock at the moment and most games have sold out)

i was a bit apprehensive of importing a machine because the UK release was only a couple of months ago, but to be honest if your gonna get one, i can see no reason to not get one NOW!!

Well, I have always been a bit aprehensive about imports. I have had one before and it was just soo much hasle. i also couldn't read the lingo.

I shall be pre-orderingone over here (when my local store gets it's pre-order barcodes sorted out!).

I don't think I would have wanted one if the system wasn't going to be targeted at teh older teens. I couldn't stand just Pokemon games coming out. Nintendo are saying that they will not release one Pokemon game for the GBA (wahoo!).

Now it is down to deciding which colour to get!

Oooh, I've still got a GBA, along with games such as Poke'mon Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Fire Red and Leaf Green! Despite me now having a Nintendo DSi, my old GBA is just one of those thing I cannot justify getting rid of!

I've still got my GBA, but I play all my GBA games on my DS Lite, I can't get over how I ever used to play my games without a backlight.

That's what I want a DS lite for, so I can play Gunstar Future Heroes Super Mario World and Astro Boy: Omega Factor in the dark

I think the DSL is the way to go for GBA games, the screen is so sharp and colourful and you get a good d-pad and long battery life thrown in. I would love to own the AGS-101 GBA SP which is fully backlit but they are quite expensive to buy, but I do LOVE the SP design.

I've still got my GBA SP. I only ever play Tetris and Mappy on it though but it never gets old.

This thread surely has to be a Guinness World Record for biggest forum 'thread bump' in history, 11 years between post #2 and #3.
