Doom 3 coming to PS3

http://www.bethblog.com/

Sounds great to me - Loved Doom 1&2. Tried to play the third but my PC wasn't up to it, so it was somewhat akin to having a seizure.

Sounds like a great package

Hopefully they have beefed it up a bit, because as great a game as it was, it will look criminally outdated if not!

Oh I dunno, though - the Xbox versions of Doom3 and RoE are 360 compatible and they still look pretty good and play rather well.

Doom 3 was a major, major disappointment after the joys of Doom and Doom II. They thought that shrouding everything in darkness was the way to go. It wasn't.

I would much rather they did decent Doom/Doom II games for the store, along with a selection of the best user-created levels.

Regards

Mark

Picked this up at the weekend. You get a lot of content for £25. It has been great playing through Doom 1&2 again.

Doom 3 is a love it or hate it kind of game it seems. I presonally love it, full of tension and atmosphere. Still plays really well IMO. No ADS feels odd, I keep clicking L1 and rapidly turning on my torch whilst a demon or zombie closes in!

All the games seem to have online modes too. I haven't dipped in yet but it should be a laugh.

heh - Not an excuse I can use

The sound design in the game is brilliant - creates a great atmosphere. And popping caps into the slow, lumbering zombies is great fun...

I played this on the PC in about 2007 and only played half of it - mainly because my PC at the time found it a struggle to run it, but I thought it was brilliant.

I have a copy here now, but need to finish The Walking Dead first.

It is an amazing game, and for £25 you also get it's expansion, the lost missions, and the original Doom and Doom 2.

I played through doom 3 when it 1st came out & loved it.

I got to play the new version a couple days back & felt the changes they made kinda ruined the atmosphere of the game & made it a lot easier.

They give you plenty of ammo this time round, One of the things I liked about it 1st time round was having to be careful with your ammo. Not been able to go round spraying rounds everywhere added to the tension, Running around with only a few rounds left knowing something could pop up round the next corner kept you on your toes.

Been able to use the flashlight & a gun at the same time also takes away some of the tension, Having to run around with the flashlight, suddenly running into something & having to quickly switch to a weapon & losing the thing you were shooting at in the shadows made the game more challenging & kept you on edge.

Enjoying this one, I only ever played Doom 3 on Xbox and enjoyed it, this update improves upon it in pretty much ever area imo.

I prefer having more ammo, more enemies and the half-life style flashlight as it makes the game faster paced which I think a Doom game should be, it's not like any of the atmosphere is really lost. The 60fps update is also a huge benefit, one thing I am disappointed by is the lack of real time shadows cast by the torch, wasn't this a feature of the original game on PC? That would be my real only gripe.

I've always wondered whenever I played Doom 3 how cool it would of been to see an Alien Resurrection (PS1) update using this engine.
