Best 3D TV to watch during the day?
Hi guys! I need your help.
Actually a friend of mind wants to make a purchase for the best 3D TV that he can watch during the day in his home. The reason is because he is working night shift and it is going to last for long. One important issue to take note of is that he always experience lots of sun light in his living room. Therefore, he is looking for a 3D TV that has no effect with light. LG or whatever brand is fine by him. |

Since the room is bright then LCD rather than plasma.
The most important thing is TV location, he needs to site the TV such that any reflections are minimised. Imagine a mirror instead of the TV; he should not be able to see the window or any other bright spots in the mirror when sitting where he will view the TV from. |

Or one alternatively with the "if you don't go and try to get some sleep now fatigue'll catch up with you at 3.30 am" reminder OSD

I would go for a "passive" 3DTV if you are going to watch it a lot during the daytime. In my OWN PERSONAL opinion, the picture isn't quite as good, but the battery powered glasses used for "active" 3DTVs can flicker a little under direct strong sunlight.

Contrary to popular belief, you don't need to be rich to afford a 3DTV these days. In any case, I know plenty of people that work overnight bringing in a good wage.

I agree with fastest finger here. You don't really need to be rich to get a 3DTV anymore. The prices have gone down to the point where even a teenager with part time job or in Arvin's case, a grown up man with a night time job -_-, could afford it.

Get a passive 3D TV. LG has the polarized passive 3D glasses which is kinda like a regular sunglasses. I'm sure those glasses work with all passive 3D TVs. Or you could just get LG's 3D TVs they have really nice ones out right now.

Both Toshiba and LG are great. Don’t forget that the feature is also something to consider. I would get the LG because of the magic motion remote, faster network, varieties of apps. It is just me.

If you are using your TV in light-ambient place, then you should be going with matte screen 3D TVs. It’s because matte screen displays do not reflect light and you can watch the image without a problem. In contrast, glossy screens are like mirrors. When you watch in glossy screen you can’t see all parts of screen due to light reflected from TV. LG’s 2011 LW and 2012 LM series are good examples of matte screen and clear screens, respectively. Personally, I would choose LW series over LM series due to matte screen of LW 3D TVs.

Ok terryfc81 we would like to consider the lg magic remote feature you mentioned as a plus. But what about Toshiba, is there any feature(s) you think we should consider in our findings? We don’t want to make any biased choice here. Thank you.

Thank you Richard_Wright! I also read about the lg matte screen display tech from an article. I think it's pretty amazing and should definitely take that into account. But we wanna consider the 2012 latest 3d tv model. So if you have any specific one in mind with other interesting features don’t hesitate to let me know.

LG LW980T is the right cure for your friend. It is the leading LG TV model of 2011 and uses a matte screen. I would have recommended any other 2012 models but unfortunately they mostly come in glossy screens. And I am an LG fan J
