Upgrade Sky Box

Hi,

On the Sky upgrade boxes page it's showing we have 3 Sky boxes. 2 HD boxes and 1 old white Sky+ box.

It's saying we can upgrade the old Sky+ box for free, but we no longer have this box as it stopped working properly.

When it says 'replace' on their website, do they actually require the old box back, or do they just send out a new box?

It's looking a bit too easy to get a free box here and wondering if i'm missing what the catch is.

They don't require you to return your old box (it's yours, not theirs anyway).

However, if you altready have 2 HD boxes, it sounds a tad unlikely that they'll give you a free HD box.

OTOH, what the harm of trying?

I thought it sounded strange too, but when i log into My Sky, the option is there, for the free HD replacement box, next to the old Sky+ box, with a button to click to go ahead with the free upgrade.
It even says underneath that cos i already have the HD pack, there's no extra costs.

I just didn't want to click it if they was going to ask for the old white box back .

Could do with a new one for upstairs to use as a Sky Freesat box, so tempted now to give it a try

Go for it!
You've nothing to lose.
Do you still have the card that went with the old white box?

My account shows the same, but when you click on the replace button it shows your order as having £49 for the replacement box and £60 for an install

So I suspect it only comes free if you are adding the HD pack at the time rather than if you already have it

You can add it to see this, then clear the order to remove it

Exactly the same for me, my account shows a (non-existent) Sky + box and the 'free' replacement would cost £109 in total.
