They are "muttations". Genetically engineered animals created by the Capitol. If children were scared by it, then they shouldn't have gone to see the film at all since killer dogs are hardly the worst thing in the books/films.

Were the dogs supposed to be real? From the way things played out in the "control centre," I got the impression that the arena was like one big holodeck and the dogs were actually simulations, rather than real, live animals (albeit simulations with teeth that could rip your throat out!)

Finally saw this last weekend and really enjoyed it. So much suspense - even though it was obvious
Spoiler
Hope the book's waiting for me when I get home now

Went to see this on friday with quite low expectations. Best film I've seen in a very long time!

I saw this yesterday & it was great.
I was shocked at how good it was & was pleasantly surprised that it was still showing in so many places. |

A version of the film, presumably with the 20 seconds the bbfc altered changed back, was passed at the bbfc today, 15 for strong violence and threat.

I just got an advertisement email from Tesco for Hunger games and it looks like they are doing exactly this, the DVD is a 12 and the Blu-ray is 15 with "The Unseen Version" on the top of the sleeve.

Mine arrived on Friday, ordered the special edition HMV blu ray double play 3 disc steelbook, not watched it yet as working through the first book first.

I just watched it....it was good, not great, not bad. I was mildly surprised, I wasn't expecting certain parts to be so 'brutal' (for a 12), but then I have not read the books either so I'm not sure how brutal they are.

Watched this earlier - thought it was really good. Not sure it quite lives up to the hype, but it's a very good watch.

Does anyone know the exact differences between the 15 certificate version and the 12A, I didn't see it at the cinema so didn't see the edited version and just watched the 15 certificate edition last night.

Got the special 3 disc steelbook edition from HMV pretty dissapointed with steelbook, normally HMV steelbooks are top notch, this is maybe the most dissapointing one they have released that I have.
But only paid 14.40 for it which is cheaper then the standard blu ray version and with this version its a double play set which i dont think is available anywhere else. |

I think the steelbook is fantastic, the logo could have been slightly bigger like the Canadian release but apart from that, arrived in perfect condition and think it's a lovely addition to my steelbook collection.
Would have liked the alternative District 12 logo embossed design from Canada though but I don't think they ship to Britain from where they do the steelbook, and I've heard from a lot that the steelbook has quite a few scratches/dents on arrival, been a common complaint - so I can see it arriving in the UK damaged. |

I just think its not great, matte finish and the artwork could have been bigger and better. I pre-ordered it when HMV had thier 20% off blu rays so the 18.00 was reduced to 14.40 so for that price its not bad I suppose. And your right the front artwork of the canadian steelbook is fantastic. Of course its still a good steelbook but more up to plays standards then HMV. Thats my 50th steelbook, have some rare ones my husband got from the states, but cant play them as currently dont have a multi region blu ray player.

Ah, internal artwork doesn't bother me, it's the outside that does. Yeah, I get steelbooks from Canada/America too but I can play them fine, got a multi region blu-ray player.
I'm a Criterion fan, so it's a must as they are Region A only.

Just type in Steelbook protective sleeves, and it will bring up people selling the things. I just type it in without choosing a catagory and it brings them up for blu-rays. DVD steelbooks fit into them fine also if you have any DVD steelbooks.
