What is the best way / technique to clean a pc (mac pro)
I've had my mp for 9 months no and had a peek (lifted side open) and its looking pretty dusty!
What would be the best method to get the dust out? What are the dangers in leaving a floor top pc alone to build dust (will probably have it for 3-5years) Do you take apart any drives etc to blow out the dust? Use a vacuum cleaner? |

can of compressed air and somewhere outside should do the job for pretty much most types of computers

I find that a small paint brush and carefully applied vacuum cleaner does a perfectly adequate job.

Probably best not to use a hoover as all the air rushing up a plastic pipe can create static electricity which you don't want in a computer.

I just found and have started to use this which is a compressed air blower but without the need to buy cans all the time - a electro vac which is a small mains powered compressed air blower thingy (sounds like a hair dryer when in use)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...SIN=B003BZCOKK Ive heard however that it's not fit for industrial usage - ie will be fine if you use now and again per year vs every other day in a big it dept.* Available for around £82 from amazon uk with uk 3pin plug or $50 from America lol!!* |

I just use a air pump used for blowing up mattress, paddling pools, etc. Cost around a fiver.
Just use the smallest nozzle possible. As somebody else mentioned, be careful with vacuum cleaners as they can generate static electricity. |
