I would - for me she represents strictly when it was about dancing and not about gimmicks as it seems to be mostly these days

The trouble is her partner!! Erin is a far better dancer (and teacher) than Anton, who has morphed into the "elderly lady/duffer specialist who cant do latin anyway"

(IMHO)

It's a funny thing the relationship between the BBC and the pro's on Strictly. For me, and maybe for others, they are the real stars of the show, much more than the celebrities. And yet they appear to be treated with disdain by the Beeb. They aren'd paid anything like the amount the judges get and yet they are far more valuable to the programme and fans follow many of them in their personal lives as well as on the Show. And then we have this 'will they'won't they be invited back' pantomime which seems to be designed to diminish them. Curious.

I agree - to me Erin is the star of that partnership and if they both got axed she's the one I'd miss greatly - I love her as a dancer and her sparkly personality and sense of humour.... which poses a dilemma for me because I'd gladly see the back of Anton.......I know people say he's one of the most recognisable pros but surely his 'schtick' has run it's course!

While I do agree the pros get treated poorly especially compared to the presenters and judges and to me they are also the real 'stars' of the show - I think they're seen as disposable by the BBC because there's no doubt lots of dancers waiting in the wings hungry for the opportunity......I don't think the dancers do that badly out of it though.... they get lots of publicity Anton, Erin, Brendan, Flavia and Vincent have became famous because of it and it's enabled them to appear in their own long running shows.........the other dancers also get lucrative opportunites because of it........ but yes it is cruel the guessing game and the way they can suddenly be dumped..... but they no doubt know that it's not going to last indefinitely!

I think there is no doubt that the pros are very poorly paid in comparison to the judges and presenters, and I doubt they are considered a priority when it comes down to who deserves a contender and who deserves a duffer as the producers will put whoever THEY think will work well with each celeb, and probably who they think will generate some headlines..... But, I do think the pros and their individual personalities are considered a very important part of the show otherwise what is the point of the launch show they have now?

I think maybe this was introduced to announce to the nation which celeb is partnered with which pro when they realised that most of the pros had pretty strong fan bases, and that their pros could generate headlines all on their own bringing publicity to the show. I think they also know now that people do want to see a properly matched partnership and unlike Dancing on Ice which is centred around Torville & Dean and the celebs, with the pros barely getting a mention, our SCD pros have three routines in a one hour launch show, and as much emphasis on them as there is on the celeb in that time..... There are even introductory dances for new pros here, to highlight them to the viewers at home, whereas on likes of DOI any changes to the pro line up is barely mentioned.

So while I do think they deserve a much better wage than they get, and a bit more notice as to whether they will be asked back or not, I think every one of the pros realise just how lucky they are to be there, and the opportunities they have had from their connection with the show...For a 'celeb' based show, I think they do not bad.

But the money Forsyth and a certain ex judge was on was obscene. That is what is doubly insulting to the pros IMO

I don't disagree and think they deserve much more than they get.

I really like Erin and hope she comes back, as for Anton.. Well, they are going to have a 'comic' celeb, it's become the norm. Let Anton take care of them and save any of the other male pro's from that fate. Some lovely ballroom dances from Anton and Erin on the results show, works for me.

I think there are other couples who can do ballroom just as well as Anton and Erin.. If I remember correctly I found A and E's ballroom effort in one of the results shows last year very underwhelming.

If the pros were meant to hear confirmation last week and didn't then I am becoming more and more convinced that there will be a big shake up. It has also been mentioned on here that Artem is carrying an injury. Could the new producers be giving him a little longer to prove his fitness before they finalise the contracts and make the announcement? 'Rent-a-pro' was fun last time but it's probably something that the producers do not wish to repeat this year as it may not go down as well a second time

Have not got a clue who will be back but it's fun to speculate

I agree I felt that last year in particular Anton and Erin were outdanced by some of the other pros in the Ballroom routines and look more and more out of place in other routines too

To Be Honest I do suspect the Pros know if they are coming back or not already for a few different reasons ,I would imagine /hope they are just saying the haven't heard yet as a way to stop further questioning and risk it getting leaked before the press release, but if some pros genuinely haven't heard yet then it doesn't sound too good for them ....

I've been watching DOI about as long as SCD - although admittedly not with the same level as interest as Strictly - and off the top of my head I don't think I think I could even name five of the skaters compared with SCD where from series 4 onwards I could name all the dancers past and present.......so it's true the dancers get a better deal on Strictly whereas on DOI most of the skaters are treated like hired help and I think only a few of them have become personalities in their own right......I always felt it a pity that as great as Torvill and Dean are - they have far too much of the spotlight and that the other skaters should get a chance to showcase their talents in their own routines like the pros do on SCD.

Yes I think most of the pros have had their meetings and perhaps some of them know or have been given indications and have to be discrete in case they annoy producers or they change their minds.....although as said earlier some of them have given heavy hints

My top four would be Anton & Erin & James and Ola saw a tweet form Brendan asking James if the SCD producers knew he had put !!on weight .Does that mean its not been decided or is James safe who knows .

It could be quite a while yet. I think last year was the only time it was officially announced so early. Otherwise we found out from the pros and the occasional leak (eg Nicole leaving).

It's a pity the BBC 'insiders' leaked information or misinformtion re pros being axed......perhaps it's because there's a new production team they've decided not to announce it early like last year......but it's shame because of the stuff leaked fans are wondering which pros are going to be returning or not!

Well the new producers announced Darcey as soon as the deal was done and they quickly followed that with the confirmation that the other judges would return so they don't seem to hang around with their announcements. Maybe they are waiting for a new pro to confirm whether they are available or not before telling one of the current pros that they are not required

It is beginning to sound like something like this is happening ,as there has apparently been a delay in the pros finding out . last year the pro line up was revealed supposedly 2 days after the pros found out .

I read somewhere that there was an article with CRH in the express on Saturday saying that the pros are still waiting to find out and that he thinks up to 5 pros may be changed ! and that some of them are very nervous all this waiting must be horrible for them .hopefully they will hear soon if they haven't already heard by now. I am beginning to think it could be awhile before we hear anything.

I googled the article

http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/...-Arlene-return

He just comments on the rumours that pros are going to be axed and says he thinks it's a good idea to change the cast......but yes it isn't a good indicator that the pros haven't heard yet

CONFIRMED: Strictly dancer Katya Virshilas - who danced with Dan Lobb last year - has been axed from the line-up #scd

https://twitter.com/Ed_StarOnSunday/...27260129652736

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...-Dan-Lobb.html

All the other dancers are back, including James, who many thought might be axed because of his row with Craig.

That's a shame bout Katya. They never really gave her anyone who had a chance in hell of winning the show.
