TBH Tyler looks closer to 40 than 30.When he came on the show I was quite shocked to read he was just 30 (and at the time of the Blinds he'd only just turned 30 too!)

That'll be the effects years of alcoholism and chronic insomnia. He looked unwell at the Blind auditions IMO. He looks a lot healthier now thankfully...

Agreed he didn't look healthy during the blinds/battle round. He actually looked tired and disheveled... but once we got to the lives and he realized he had support you could see him looking healthier each week. The 'Tyler' we saw audition and the 'Tyler' we saw in the final seem like two completely different people. I'm just glad he is finally happy again.

He has had to have his face reconstructed as well since the time he had a record deal - he does look much older now than he did back in 2004/5.

I was aware of the reconstruction when I wrote my last comment.But I dont think that caused him to look so much older. (I think the surgeons did a fantastic job on him btw, he really doesnt look like hes had plastic surgery AT ALL. )

I think its more the other factors- drinking, smoking and ongoing insomnia are likely to leave any person looking haggard.

I dont wish to sound negative- I still think he looks gorgeous! And hes certainly looking much healthier and happier than he did 6 months ago at the Blind auditions. But he certainly doesnt look 30!

You can tell that the attack did a lot of horrific things to him. He looks so fresh faced here and in his videos for Why Do I Do and Foolish in 2004-2005. However, I agree he looks much healthier now than at the blind audition,

I have to say the vid does look a bit cringey in places...he's clearly a good looking lad BUT... so much posing! DOESNT look cool! (But then I guess tonnes of pop videos look like this.)

His later videos looked much better IMO.

I think I saw his MySpace page from 2005 & he does come accross as a little cocky/arrogant in it at times. I think there was this kinda expectation that he was gonna be this big star. Losing his record contract must've been a massive shock to the system.

It has to be said that long term success for ANY of the Voice contestants is by no means guaranteed, even now!

Oh my God, I remember this song, I remember being about 13 and Trevor Nelson playing it on his Sunday night show and thinking it was amazing, but never hearing it again. So funny it was Tyler James, thanks for that blast from the past!
