Who's going to move there apart from a lot of retired types.
Transport links and all that sort of thing, you need some young and functioning types to make a town 'work'.
That's assuming someone will want to buy a converted 'tat' shop that's now a house.

Diminishing returns though, the smaller/duller the 'front' gets, the less people want to come and round in a loop it goes.

On this tip, is Jaywick still a place to abandon all hope in certain areas?
Agreed, that transport links would have to improve, especially rail, but I do think that London and the South East is getting more and more overcrowded and so don't see why those coastal areas nearest to London can't be regenerated to accommodate people.

It's not "Thanet", it's "Fannit, innit?".

It's potentially got a lot going for it; the best beaches in the South East, and lots of good Georgian architecture for instance. It's problem has been realising that potential.

Does it need more money pumped into, a change in people, more jobs or what?

However, it has been an unemployment blackspot for decades due to the decline of tourism and low skilled manufacturing.

I don't know really, I guess there is lots of economic and social problems?

There needs to be a balance though between just throwing money at something and not. As a seaside town too - is that it's whole identity or would actual residents rather move away from being tourist centric?

Its not just coastal Kent that has issues. Its the other towns such as chatham and Maidstone that need a lot of love and attention.

I used to go down to Margate regularly during the summer, for a few years, to listen to the Compton theatre organ in the Dreamland cinema on the first Sunday of the month.

They used to have a different guest Organist each month.

It's a shame it closed because I used to enjoy it.
