Blocking AVIVA Pop-up

At this time, I appreciate that some are obsessed with the Olympics. However, when visiting any website, I do not wish any intrusive pop ups, typified by this website and the pop up window of Aviva,

Thanks Aviva... I will definitely be avoiding any of your products.

Get Firefox and install the plugin from http://noscript.net

This allows you to block scripts on a site-by-site basis - much better at blocking popups than popup-blockers.

One problem I found with Noscript is that it literally blocked everything including online bank PIN verification processes

Great plugin all round but you need to suit it your needs seemingly

I can't understand how in 2012 anyone is still getting bombarded with pop-ups or any kind of ads.

It's annoying me too.
I actually thought you were using "blocking" as an expletive for some reason

I honestly cannot comprehend how advertisers think that intrusive ads will help them in any way. In fact they are counter productive, as your post shows.

Banner ads at the side are fine. But those which cover up bits of the website you are on, and prevent you navigating or reading, are as big a bloody nuisance as cold calls.
