The Royal family are an extremely well documented media covered rich family. They live in such riches and luxury that they can live until the ripe old age of 91 and show no sign of reaching the end of their life.
Such a rich family who have never wanted for naff all and know next to nothing about anyone even remotely working class, and to top it off we are supposed to worship them. All this, because they just happened to be born into the right family.
The Royal Family means nothing to me. Death is always sad and the lady has done her share of good in her time, and it will be very sad for her family, but she is 80 odd. She's led a very full and successful life. It would be sad, but I wouldn't be heartbroken.

I'll be both sad and reflective. For most of us, she's the only monarch we've known and we've been used to seeing her on the TV, on stamps, on the coinage, etc. for all our lives. It will be strange when she's no longer around and IMO she's been a fantastic monarch.

King Charles.

Now there's a point to ponder.

I'd be sad, and apprehensive of what happens next. I'd feel sad for the family, especially if Phillip outlives her, or vice versa really.

I'd only be sorry about the weeks and weeks of wall to wall saturation wailing in the media and the inevitable havoc it would wreak on the football fixtures.

Not a chance. It will either be George VII or as a long shot Arthur.

Anyway, day off for the funeral and then a day off for the coronation. Back of the net! Get in! Have it!

So no I wont be sad.

not sad as such, but as someone said, she's the only monarch i've ever known, so it will be a novel concept watching history in the making with a funeral, then a coronation.

Yes, but no more so than I would be for the recently deceased grandmother on the front page of the local rag. Most deaths are a sad event, and I don't see why I should class her's as an exception.

That doesn't mean I would be buying into any contrived, mawkish national mourning, however.

I'd be very shocked if she died anytime soon. The Queen's one of them people that you expect to go on for years and years until they become knackered! I suppose sad just because it would remind me that I'm getting older.

Even the music channels would have Royal coverage on, like for instance the Top 10 songs, the Queen listened to in the shower.

The Queen comes across as very cold and distant even during her jubilee celebrations; a recruitment agency would never hire her for token PR events.

People say she serves her country but bloody hell people serve their country and don't get a mili-fraction of the subsidies that she recieves i.e. state funded security (e.g. even Fergie's little known daughter had 24 hr police protection during her gap year abroad)

The royals have strong financial incentives to toe the royal duty line, for this reason I can't buy the arguement about her national service, even forgetting that it's the easiest job on the planet.

No, not really. I'd think "Blimey, the queen's dead" and then move on to whatever I was doing previously.

She's the monarch and head of state. If you want inane grins and celebrity drivel then look elsewhere. The Queen isn't there for our personal amusement.

I know; the Queen is there to protect her own financial interests.
