Leona Lewis next week?

I wonder what Leona will sing at next weeks Hackney Weekend? Yes she is from Hackney but she hasn't got an album/single to promote has she?

Well she has that third album she's meant to be releasing at some point but has been pushed back twice now

I'm sure the initial plan was to announce/premiere single 2 from the upcoming 3rd album at Hackney. She's more than likely just sing all her singles so far. I hope she sings GlassHeart and Outta My Head!

Interesting how the media changes us. If one is a real singer, which Leona definitely is, does she have to be only appearing to promote an album or single? Perhaps she just enjoys singing and can literally grab a mike and without loads of faking equipment and backing tracks, just deliver a great performance. Having said that, can perhaps see the link, as some so called singers only make an appearance when they are in need of some launch promotion.

This Hackney Weekend isn't about artists coming on to promote their material. For Leona, the performance is about giving back to the place she grew up. She's one of the biggest stars to ever come from Hackney, so it's very fitting that she's on that stage next weekend to show everyone what is possible if you work towards achieving your dreams.

She'll give a fantastic live performance I'm sure. Hope everyone has a great time.

I hope she announces something. Not gonna lie but i have missed her presence in the charts. Collide was awful and her Hurts EP, well that was an awful crime committed and she deserved to be sentenced. Hope Glassheart has been well worth the wait.

Whilst I think it's really nice that she will be performing at Hackney I do think it's delusional to believe that she is doing this to give something back etc.
She wasn't so supportive of the Uk or doing promotion work in UK when Simon whisked her to America and when her initial career took off she did loads of promo work in the US whilst the UK had the usual XFactor promo. Let's be realistic the reason she is doing this is because her career nosedived and stalled on her second album poor worldwide sales and poorer single releases. This was compounded last year by her single stalling and dropping out of the chart little radio play or interest in album hence two delays and tracks being re edited and new material being recorded. Her Hurts E.P was dire.
I do like Leona but she really needs to get rid of her management and start over as she is becoming a joke of an artist and fans won't continue to support her.

LOL are you having a laugh?

Her fans will ALWAYS continue to support her, and 2 Million worlwide sales is hardly a flop.

Some artists can only dream to sell 2 million worldwide.
Syco is the best management for promotion wise, Simon promotes to the max. Just look at 1D and Cher.

I wouldn't see any problems if she were to launch a new single as part of her set. If it feels right for her, I'm sure she'll go for it...It could be a bit tricky in terms of songs if she wanted to give a few flavors of what she's been up to so far. Collide doesn't really gel with her previous material but it'd be nice to see her do a mix of ballads and up tempo tracks. And performing Outta My head live would be awesome!!!

does my head in the fact that Leona isnt doing anything and hasnt for so long now. She should be the main uk female artist we have (besides Cheryl of course..Who I also love) she should have new music to promote and tours coming up ect......dissapointed in the way they have messed her career up in the UK

I wait for the day we get a new album,...I for one will deff be buying

I disagree. Leona has been getting involved with the Radio 1 thing for ages now, she's been going to schools and working with kids trying to help them out and inspire them. In any interview Leona has ever given where she mentions Hackney, it's always come across that she is very proud to be from their. If Leona purely wanted this to get some spotlight back on her, she'd just have performed at the festival and not done any of the school visits etc.

Plus Leona never deserted the UK like people say. Where do people get that idea? She's done no more promo in the US than she has in the UK. It's just she did her promo in blocks with Spirit, first she tackled the UK, then America, then other parts of the world. She still lives in London.

Spirit over 6.5 million sales
Echo 2 million I actually think that speaks a lot about her fans continuing to support her 4.5 million less.
2 million sales worldwide considering Simon Cowell implies she is a worldwide superstar. Artists sell more than that in the Uk alone.
Her Hurt EP four tracks all counted towards sales. Entered chart at 8 the following week it dropped to 68 week three out of chart completely. We're was the fan base. Glassheart delayed due to poor response to lead single and lack of interest held back. It has now been prosponed on three occasions. If presales and interest had been so good it would have been released by now.
And Syco must be one of the worst management companies. Only interested in cracking the American market as that means mega bucks for Simon Cowell. He must have the worst track record for dropping artists. The company totally has its own agenda in manufactured pop. I am looking at 1D and Cher which will be interesting to see we're they are in 5 years time. Probably made Simon millions and they will be working in some fast food or Pizza chain penniless.

In fairness, artists do sell more than 2 million in the UK but it's not the norm!

Yes but 2 million worldwide sales with a drop of 4.5 million from previous album is not great. Hence the hold up with current album and worry that Mr Cowell made all these ludicrous claims she was the biggest selling female artist in the world. Think he might have egg on his face with this one. To have a 3 year gap between albums was career suicide. Simon appears too busy coining it in with his boy band and obviously Leona is no longer his cash machine.
I really do think she is really talented but unfortunately she lacks charisma or longevity appeal.

A coherent post but none of which explains the bit where you said "Artists sell more than that in the Uk alone."

I'm just glad I ain't a fan. She has given so little back for their support. One tour in all this time, but no shortage of private gigs to line her pockets.

If you look up Best Selling Albums in uk their is a comprehensive list of over 65 albums which have sold over 2 million in Uk. My point was that 2million album sales worldwide is not really a massive success. Especially considering her previous album sales. If you look at best selling worldwide sales Echo was not a commercial success worldwide. It was only in th UK it reached No1.
Only 2 singles were released from it Happy which charted at No2. However the following single I got you stalled at 14. Due to this no further singles were released. The album was quickly reduced to £4 in many supermarkets to try and boost sales.

Shame Echo didn't do as well as her debut as I think it's a lot better. As for her 3rd album, I'm wondering if it will EVER be released!

And back on topic... really looking forward to hearing Leona's set next week... will be great to hear a new (hopefully) HQ set from one of my favourite ever singers... whilst i would obviously love to hear new music, that is coming soon enough (i.e. when it's ready) so whatever Leona performs i will be happy to watch :-D
