It's unlikely, but nothing is impossible.

In a fantasy world perhaps. Our defence didn't look that clever V Sweden in the second half. Spain would just pass their way throught us, did you not see their passing and movement in the last game?

I know it was just a friendly, but England did actually beat Spain a few months ago.
If we do face Spain and go on to lose, hopefully we can at least put in a decent performance and lose with some pride. |

No reason to believe they can't. It'd be interesting in these forums if they did.

It will be very tough to beat a side who will have 70%+ possession, but one thing for sure is that Andy Carroll will scare the life out of their defenders if we can supply him and I would fancy us to score at least twice. I just hope we don't fall into the trap of automatically picking Rooney.

Do people still buy into the nonsense that a big or fast player will "frighten the life out of" [insert team here]? Believe it or not, they have tall players everywhere. Fast players too.
England could beat Spain, but I'd not bet any of my money on it. |

Yes, but there is nothing in world football quite like an English centre forward in full flight. I'll bet the Spanish defenders are having nightmares at the sheer prospect.

For us to play Spain, we would need to get something v Ukraine.
With this England team we might not even qualify for the next round, the Ukraine (IMO) are a better team than Sweden. It's going to be another stressful, anxious, frustrating night where England constantly keep giving the ball away, why o why can't we have a nice 3-0? |

In a one off game, anything can happen, red cards, controversial decisions, fluke goals etc...Ghana should have been in the world cup semifinal but were undone by a deliberate hand ball.
