Just finished this, the ending is pretty crap and for all the choices you make throughout the whole 3 games the endings are far to similar. Also when you had to choose I didnt know it was left right and centre, I just ran down the middle had to do the whole thing again.

Have to say I was getting bored towards the end, also thought I was playing Dead Space at times.

Should have been excellent, sadly for me anyway its just ok.

I don't think you need multiplayer for any Achievements?

Ones that have an MP component also have an SP component.

e.g. you can do all MP maps on "Gold" *or* do every SP mission on "Insanity", etc.

Ah, that one.

You don't need MP for that, but... if you don't play the MP the only way to get it is to use the Datapad app (iOS) or the Infiltrator game (iOS / Android).

So yes, that sucks.


What sucks more than that though is that, despite BioWare's many claims to the contrary, you *need* to play MP and/or the mobile apps to be able to get the "best" ending possible, as an EMS of 4000 is simply not possible with the default Galactic Readiness of 50%.

This is apparently being "fixed" though with the Extended Cut DLC, so that the EMS required will now be achievable without having to play MP / apps.

Well im ebaying mine, no intention of playing another EA tacked on multiplayer, I can sell the online code for a couple of quid extra.

No point in waiting for the new ending either I can just watch that on any number of sites. No need to have the game for it. Its just some new cutscenes.

The multiplayer is very good. It was in fact going to be a seperate game but EA decided to give it with ME3.

i got the "best" ending and had to play alot of multiplayer to get my EMS up to 100% etc........but now since i have not played the game in ages my EMS has gone right down to laughable figures....am i gonna have to play mp again in order to get the "best" outcome with the new extended cut??

that would be a pain in the ass! grrr

Only got the game recently and just finished it today (27-28 hours playing time). I'll put everything in spoilers just incase.

I thought the game (to a point) was fantastic! Truly epic in everyway and I loved the way they intertwined characters from ME2 throughout the game although I do wish Miranda had a more centric part as she was a big part in ME2. The missions and the scale of it was all fantastic and felt like it was coming toward a grand conclusion. But unlike everyone else it wasn't the last for moments that ruined it, it was the entire ending battle on earth.

Everything I worked on for the past two games just seem to feel redundent in the wider scheme of things. In my first playthrough I didn't really get the entire concept on the war assets and it was gonna be something where I try it through and improve for my second game. But everything turned out fine... I didn't even try and build up the fleets that much but nothing seemed to go unbelievably wrong. No much characters died, although I didn't see Garrus again it never showed him dying.

You work over the entire game trying to gain the fleets in order to defeat the reapers but I can't be the only one that feels like you don't really use them in the final battle! You see a bit of action in the first scene before you land on Earth then its back to you and your two squadmates. Then after that little segment you have the sort of peace period where you essentially say goodbye to everyone. You see the Krogan fleet getting prepared and they talk about other fleets but you never see them again. Maybe it was my expectations but I really thought each species would have there moment but to me they never had much impact. After you talk to Anderson it is just back to Shepard and his two squadmates.

You never felt in control or command. One of the best bits about the ending of ME2 IMO was that you assigned team members to do certain things. You felt like a leader. I never really got that feel here, I would have thought seeing as Shepard done all the recruiting he would of given them assignments.

Also you have the large section with the missiles. I just couldn't help but think I bet something is gonna wrong and I have to defend. And thats what happened. For the final battle I really thought they'd have come up with something better than simply "Defend" and them just throwing as much s**t at you as possible and just waiting for EDI to say "done it".

And then the final final moment. Just came out of nowhere and really just felt odd. It has to be all inside his head after the Reaper attack otherwise it makes zero sense. The Anderson thing mainly, there is one entrance and Anderson enters behind him but is at the panel first . It literally has 2 endings that no matter what you do cannot be changed. That's not Mass Effect to me. At the end of ME2 your desicions determined who survived, the Normandy crew you have on the ship afterwards, the way it affects Shepard in ME3.

Anyway I really loved the game just up to the bit I was looking forward to most. Unless the "new" ending is drastically different I doubt I'll replay as no actions made in the game seems to effect the overall outcome.

Sorry for the long post but this the first time I've actually posted about the game.

I have no idea why people are so 'Polarized' by the ending. It was fine for me, I got closure and TBH I really enjoy the game ... for once in my life I'm going to thank Peter Molyneux who single handedly has stopped me ever getting hyped about a game again!!

The Mp was actually pretty good ... no in fact I'm going to say it was a pleasant surprise ... not something I would pile 100 hours into but still kept me going for a lot longer than some more dedicated online offerings.

For me though there were some hilarious gaps in the story ...

Why did the guys that apparently 'didn't make it' in the final run down the hill suddenly appear to be coming out of the shuttle in the end scenes ... why weren't they helping me?!!

And with the relays destroyed and all those ships defending earth ... um where are they going to go now? Its not like they can relay it back to their home planets or anything. Given the current state of passport control it would take decades getting all that lot through!!

Those are just some of the plotholes that caused many people to take issue with the ending (along with the lack of closure, lack of choice, and the way that the endings are thematically incompatible with the rest of the game and the trilogy as a whole).

Hopefully, the plotholes and the lack of closure will have been addressed by the Extended Cut.

I've not played yet, but from Twitter I have seen one thing I found quite surprising (in a good way):

One of the things that annoyed me about the original ending was that *my Shepard* would never have meekly accepted the Catalyst's frankly bullshit choices without question. My Shepard would have said "screw you!!" and rejected them outright, finding another way to finish things. My Shepard would have shot the Catalyst in its stupid glowing face.

And now, it seems, you can actually do that. I don't know what the consequence is, but you *can* apparently reject the Catalyst's choices, and shoot it (hopefully in the face).

So, I'm going to try two endings with the EC:

1)

Destroy, as I did originally, as it was the least objectionable of the three choices.

and

2)

Shoot the Catalyst in the face.

Unless the extended cut address this the simple answer is most of the races will die out because of a lack of food and the atmosphere on earth...

Infact most races would start to fight each other right where they stand destroying most races in meer hours, oh wait....

the destuction of a mass relay kills all life in that part of the galaxy, so yep according to the game itself no matter what sheppard did he should of killed everything in the galaxy doing exactly what the reapers wanted

But i guess its ok as long as we have joker riding a shockwave

You need to re-play from the point of no return - the penultimate mission.

This has apparently been addressed in the EC, from what I've read. How well it has been addressed is another matter... I won't be playing until tonight

My thoughts:

- The quarians have liveships - they can grow food for themselves and the turians. Other races can eat food grown on Earth.

- Although the relays have been destroyed, FTL is still possible... it's just a lot slower. So they won't be stranded.

- We only *know* that when a relay is destroyed via the manner in Arrival that it takes its star system with it. Although the relays were destroyed when the Crucible fired, that doesn't mean they'll take out their star systems at the same time. Different means of destruction, different energy. Maybe they just fell apart after passing on the Crucible energy, rather than "went out with a bang" like in Arrival.
