Advisors can only deal out what they have - they can't just pluck an offer out of the air.

I Just called up as out of contract again, had 3 years at Sky and got a deal last year of 2 new Sky+ boxes and half price for six months.

Just called up to sort out for this year, called up to cancel and said I was planning to go to freesat. They gave the usual waffle. Tried to sell me Internet, but I dont want Sky Internet.

I am paying £61 at the moment for main channels + movies (no sports)

My main Sky box has become unstable, often crashing etc so keen to get that replaced.

So I asked for a new Sky+ box (ideally a 1TB - anyone been getting those for free on a upgrade?) and half price on TV for next year. I was told NO to either a new box or any discount on a package and that they will accept my cancellation now, said I would talk to misses and call back!

Last year it was really easy ... I guess they are happy to churn customers this year.

Any ideas ? Not willing to carry on paying £61 and a rubbish box, might as well try Virgin or Freesat.

Py £65 for a call out, and no doubt they will give you a box that works quite nicely, not sure why you think you are entitled to cheap TV though, must try that at ASDA next time I'm there, or maybe with the TV licence guys

I think you are wrong, 140 plus channels and all the channel most people watch ie BBC, ITV, Channels 4 & 5, sky may have pick tv but you can keep it

So if you can find nothing on FREESAT that you ever want to watch, then I can see your point , but I find plenty and so can millions of other people

When I've been given a deal by a Sky agent before, for six months, at the end of the call they've told me to call back when it's ended and ask for another. Clearly a practice that Sky build into their pricing structure to some extent.

Well I have had Sky for many years now and only in the first year did I pay full price. Since then its been deals all the way. I have just finished a 12 months half price deal and now been offered entertainment mix, all the sky sports channels and movie channels with HD for 3 months for £2.50. Once that ends I will cancel again to get another deal. They even told me that I would be offered another deal when this one ends!

We cancelled sky a couple of months ago after no offer of a deal and let the cancellation go through hoping for a "come back to sky" deal, all we've been offered is 30% off for a year. So, it looks like they're wising up to these tactics too. We went down the freesat route and a Netflix sub and to be honest there hasn't been a time when we've actually missed sky, maybe when the football starts we might, but as you all know, there's ways and means around that too!

I think a lot more sky people will be doing the same, and they will be very pleased with what they can get for FREE

If you think sky own FREESAT you are WRONG, it is a joint venture between the BBC and ITV

Hi
Dont give up on getting a deal woodyuk.
I was on half price sky got 12 month, Then a follow up deal of 6 month half price, Then when that ran out I was told no deals for me which was fine by me I cancelled and 20 days into my cancellation I was called by sky and given free sky for 6 month all channels all I have to pay for is HD subs.
So dont let anyone tell you sky dont give offers.
You just have to go through with your cancellation.
Sky would rather have you paying half price than nothing.
And all who are paying full price are subsidising all the subbers with deals thats how it is.
If you are prepard to pay full price then carry on.

Freesat and Freesat from sky are two entirely seperate platforms.

Indeed, and those people can be happy with their bog-standard telly. Personally, I bloody love Sky Atlantic, so wouldn't downgrade to Freesat.

Not too impressed by Netflix either - TV shows are from years ago! Plus I get a similar service from Sky at no extra cost to me.

Just got a 20% reduction on my Entertainment Extra package, by the way.

Absolutely right. It wasn't funny the first time, let alone now.

Bit confused are you saying if you have FREESAT or NETFLIX you have to have a bog standard TV, because if that is the case I will have to sell my TV

And good for you with your 20% reduction, well done
