Hi

My LED has exactly the same issues as this clip

Does this issue effect all panels in some way or form whether that be Samsung, Panasonic, Sony etc.

You'd think with all the complaints about it and with some people saying that they've had up to 10 replacement panels in some extreme cases that maybe this issue would now be a thing of the past!

Is they a way to fix it?

I'll be in the market for a new tv soon so can anyone give some advice on the best make to buy to reduce my chances of getting this Banding issue!

My LG TV developed a vertical band in the middle of the screen after a year. It was mainly noticeable when a scene was panning.

Thankfully my Samsung LED tv hasn't developed any yet.

It does seem pot luck, which is why most people call it the 'LCD Lottery'.

Not sure if there is a QC check they can do at the factory.

My 3 year old 32" Philips LCD done the same, a 2" band down the centre of the screen. Was told a new panel would be around £300, plus vat, plus fitting! Got a new all singing, all dancing smart tv for £389 & sold the Philips on ebay.

Yeah, only got peanuts for it. I got the feeling he had some "means or knowledge" of fixing it. Apart from that the set was immaculate with all accessories & paperwork.

I had the same problem with my old Sharp Aquos LCD. Apparently it was a widespread issue caused by dirty rollers on the production line. I could minimise the effects by reducing the contrast and brightness controls, but once I knew it was there it always bugged me, especially when watching football. Again, the set went on eBay and I switched back to plasma.

Oh I wondered what caused it. Rollers sound right, it's that sort of pattern. What are they rolling, the lining?

Football is bad for showing up banding. All that panning.

I wonder if that means if that was only a over a certain production period then & now sorted? The Philips I spoke about was a 2007 model bought as a factory refurb from Philips in 2009.

It's normally batches that have the problem. Although not all of the batch.
