Am not quite sure why people are now even complaining about Vodafone's Euro Traveller and Three's Euro Pass. Ok, if you only use text messages and calls, it might not be worth getting it. But if you look at what they used to and some still charge for 1MB of data, I'm not sure if you can moan about the offer. And in the end no one is forcing you to use it!
If you are hoping to use your allowance abroad (EU) without an extra charge, you will be waiting a couple of years in my opinion. |

Like I said, no one is forcing you to use it though. You can just stay on the old deal (for now at least). And if you are away 28 days a month, then I am guessing it's business trips and not sure if £84 would break the bank then?! (Just asking, not assuming).
Data traveller= £2 a day with 25Mb included Euro Traveller= £3 a day being able to use your allowance. How do you work out a difference of £74? |

Getting round strange cities, finding your way back so you don't miss your ship etc, is made so much easier with maps on the iphone - not to mention receiving emails, which in my line of work, you can't always wait till the next web cafe otherwise the work goes to someone else. I'm not quite sure how you reconcile an 840% increase in overheads as acceptable because it's for my job. Not everyone who travels to Europe for their living is a high powered business executive I'm a self-employed contract worker!

also don't forget it includes text, calls not only to UK, but also to EuroZones, so it makes it easy to call a cab, or hotel, or book a restaurant, so it is a pretty good deal.
but i agree, not so great if you had monthly traveller and passport, but probably depends a lot on the usage, plus since it is opt in service, you can still get it i guess. |

Fair enough in your case it won't be worth having the Euro Traveller. But for people going on holiday e.g. for a week, £21 doesn't sound too bad if you can use your data allowance plus minutes and text messages.
The T&C say There is no minimum commitment but by opting in to Vodafone EuroTraveller you are opting out of any other European roaming offers on your account or price plan, including Vodafone Passport and Vodafone Data Traveller. You will not be able to opt back into these offers at a later date; if you opt out of Vodafone EuroTraveller you will go onto our Vodafone World rates when you travel abroad. So not sure if you can't use Data Traveller anymore as soon as you switch it off again (as technically you don't opt into Euro Traveller) |

I don't agree with you on the notion that it must be some sort of con to make people pay more. It's got a clear upfront cost bump, but after that, the pricing is very reasonable. As I said before, it's probably the cheapest offer in the UK. |

Most people can't afford to travel abroad as regularly as you do, whether it's for business or not.

I stated that the fact that you regularly travel abroad for work makes you exceptional. The average person will probably only make one trip abroad per year, lasting only about two weeks - in that case, they'll likely save money with the new tariff. |

Sadly this seems to be a very poor deal.
The old vodafone passport was much better - which is fine if you are on it, if not expect to pay up to 6 times the amount for no extra monthly data! Under the old scheme you got 25mb per day for either £2 a day or £10 a month. Now you get charged £3 a day, with no monthly option and have to take the data from your allowance. Not a good deal at all!! |

I am not sure if I can feel for a family of four that can afford to go on holiday abroad. And knowing how much kids use their phones to be on Facebook and for texting, I think £3 a day might be a blessing for some parents.
For some 25MB a day might be enough, but for me personally I would have to restrict myself a lot. |

like all bolt ons it's designed to extract more money from the customer, to up sell them. given that there is little to no marginal cost to vod of providing roaming data if they can get more money out of you then not matter how much more you consume it's worth it for them. that is how i know that the average customer spends less than £3 a day roaming. i don't know where you get the idea that 4.5meg is low for roaming data, it's not even low for UK data. |

Well they did it because no body really roams as everyone is afraid of going over their allowances or ending up with a huge bill. If they know its the same as home or unlimited (Like Three's new data plan) then customers know what they are actually doing.

You say that people spend less than £3 a day on roaming, but is that because they want to? When I went abroad last year, I didn't use much data with things like email and simple web browsing, it was using Maps to get around and things like that. If you turn on data roaming, get your email and then turn it off again, you're not really using your device as much as you could. |

How does it work? Does Vodafone automagically take £3 a day when i am roaming without asking? do i have to send a text to activate it for that day? As when on holiday i might only want it for say 2 out of the 7 days, so how do i tell them i agree to pay £3 for 2 of those days but not the rest when roaming?

It says that you can opt-out any time that you want, but I don't know how long that takes or if you can do it as regularly as you'd like. They also say that if you opt-in while abroad, you'll be charged for the text message to do so. |

Actually Vodafone have now scrapped the 25mb for £2 a day.
So either you must opt for the £3 a day or pay 58p a MB. The £5 for 25mb in the rest of the world is also scrapped from July 1st. |

Even if you were on Vodafone passport before? This sucks big time then because if you think about it, not only do you have to pay for tons of Data out of Europe now you also won't get the inclusive calls in Australia and New Zealand like you did before.

Anyone have any idea if Vodafone or 3 can tell if you're using the sim card in your iPad rather than your iPhone ?
Both the Vodafone Euro Traveller and the Three Euro Pass deals are phones only, not iPads. Yet I'm wondering if you could just register for it on your phone, and the stick the sim card in your iPad. Would they have any way of knowing ? |
