Why not? I'd assume MS would subsidise it, if absolutely necessary.

When the 360 launched at the end of 2005, it cost MS a lot more to make than £279.99.

The PS3 has shown what happens if you launch at too high a price, I think even someone from Sony admitted recently that the launch price hurt it.

Just to note people seem to reading the Spec sheet incorrectly It's two different devices.
22.2 surround sound, wtf?

Looks very fake to me.

Besides, they already have Microsoft Surface.

Heard that MS will release a version of the console based at casual games and another for hardcore gamers. Seems a good idea in my opinion.

Yeah - like they do now I'd imagine, bog standard, limited space, then a full-on version with backwards compatibility, large hard drive, maybe Kinect v2 bundled.

That one is not the tablet the top one is tablet and the other one is a PC that Is currently unknown. The details do fit with the heavily rumoured tablet in the next hour. However we will know for sure at 11:30PM.

Yeah I do too. However the cable idea etc will never make it to the UK market anyway.

Engadget has some pictures.

I wonder if the squares and dash-outline squares offer any clues.

Isn't it a bit early to be showing this off, especially as it was only scheduled last week? Why the rush.

One thing's for sure, it's gonna kick some serious arse when it does arrive. Full B/C would be so good, only reason 360 didn't have hardware emulation is due to MS not owning the rights to the Xbox hardware itself so I'm sure they won't neglect that if they have a choice in the matter.

The gen for them has lasted a hell of a lot longer, too, so a lot more people out there with masses of games I guess.

Personally I don't give a monkeys on BC, but I don't tend to sell or trade my old consoles in.

If we see the commitment to out-do the competition like we did with the tablet yesterday I think I'll be switching back to Xbox.

Why are so many people upset over this. It sounds great, also it's 2 years old so a lot can changed that time, especially the specs but to me that sounds powerful enough for next gen. I don't think we're gonna have to wait for next E3 for this to be unveiled. All of MS best devs have all moved on to the new platform now so it can't be too long.

Wonder what sort of price we'll be looking at apparently the Wii U is over £300.
