Ahh that makes sense, the reason it didnt burn last time and only converted is because I changed the "choose destination" to a new file in my D drive as I thought that would mean it would take up less space and still burn it!! I have selected DVD DISC this time.

It now says

STANDARD QUALITY
Changed the type of disk to Double layer 8.5
On the left there is a picture of a DVD which is half yellow and half white. And underneath it says 09:06:11 What does this mean?

Just to the right of that it says 1793 kbps 4:3 Pal 352x576 25 fps
There is there a Volume symbol which says AC3, 192 kbps, stereo

I have follwed your instrucation to the tea! And it now says Converting, I just went t look at it and it keeps going all white saying Freemake video is not responding, then going back to normal.

It has DVD Creation at the top underneath it says

the title I gave ot and all that infor I gave about 1793 kpbs etc next to it and at the end it says converting and 3%

The under that it says

DVD = R Double Layer
E: (0,0,0) HL-DT-ST DVD-RW_GSA-H41n RA00

How is that all looking? Do you think it will work and then play on my DVD and then the thread will finally have ended :P

Ahhh I am gutted, it says freemake video convertor has stopped working. A problem has caused the programe to stop working correctly. Windows will close the progrme and notify you if a solution is available

A message came up from freemake video and asked me for my email address and said it will let me know if they can fix the problem.

It only got up to 18% so only waited for like 40 mins. I will give it another try now.

It has just finished converting and burning and I have tested it on my PC and on my DVD player and finally after many hours, days and weeks of trying to do this I have sucess!! It has worked perfectly!! burned all the FLV, VOB, MP3 files perfect onto my Dual layer 8.5 disc. So a VERY big thanks to everyone who has helped me.

A couple of downloads I made using download helper on fire fox for some reason when I downloaded them the picture was faster than the speaking and thats the way it came out on the burned DVD too, but thats not a big deal I guess it was just something to do with the download. Not sure why, I think it was Mac who said it might have been to do with my lack of Memory ram at the time which I have upgraded and is now 3.00 GB.

So

Congratulations

09.06.11 is the total playing time (hours/minutes/seconds) of the finished DVD and the yellow/white symbol indicates that the quality is 'Standard' i.e. half the quality/resolution it would be it you had a playing time of around 4 hours (the recommended time for good quality on an 8.5gb DVD)

4:3 Pal 352x576 25 fps refers to the output resolution.
If you click 4:3 there is a choice of
4:3
16:9

and on PAL (the UK standard) between
PAL
NTSC (US standard)

On AC3, 192 kbps, stereo there is a choice between that and MP2 Stereo

9hrs, 6minutes and 11 seconds?.

No wonder you were complaining about the quality being rubbish earlier.

But at long, long last it's worked. Thank the lord.

I once had a movie file take 13 hours just to convert. A personal best.

Schsssssssss! let the OP sleep, the poor poppet must be worn out.

I wonder what his/her next saga, sorry, thread will be about lol

To be honest I'm stunned people kept replying to what in my humble opinion (and I may be wrong) was a wind up thread It just shows the helpful nature of DS members I suppose.

Well after using it and it working great a couple of months ago I thought I would give it another try, however whenever my video is finished converting (well at 94% everytime) it tells me disk error and to either save it or to try another disk or it comes up with a message saying that it has crashed and would I like to send an error report?

However, I have tried another disk and there is nothing wrong with the disks and it still will not work. I have never had this problem before and it worked fine when I used Freemake last.

ANy help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Here is some more information that might be useful I have freemake Video COnverter the latest version, however whenever my video is finished converting it tells me disk error and to either save it or to try another disk? However, I have tried another disk and there is nothing wrong with the disks and it still will not work. I have never had this problem before and it worked fine when I used Freemake last.

I have tried using different disks, I have uninstalled freemake and reinstaled it, I have tried different videos, including ones I have previous burned that burned fine on freemake. I still keep getting the same message as soon as it has finished converting

WARNING

DVD Burning Error

An error occurred while burning DVD
You can try to burn another disk or save the DVD folder to PC

I also sometimes get this message too

dvdauthor.exe has stopped working

ANy help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Reducing your burn speed may help. eg x4, x2 or even x1

Also I had a spell of problems caused by my AntiVirus once.
Try disabling it temporarily (Right click icon near clock).

Buying a new PC/Laptop with full 'At Home' Extended Warranty and 30 days Customer Support may be the way to go.

Change your family circumstances and friends so that one of them knows about these things and can help too.

Or take up stamp collecting.

Is there something missing on my PC or something gone wrong with it or maybe something that I have uninstalled by accident which is stopping DVDs from now burning on my PC as it was working find until recently? I have uninstalled a few things over the last few months but can not remember exactly what.

Neither do I, but Google found these

http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/2...needs-to-close

http://www.threatexpert.com/files/mplex.exe.html

http://www.whatisexe.com/process/mplex.exe.html

and many more

You haven't mentioned this here but on one of the other forums where the current question is posted you say:

"Also for some reason my space on the C drive has filled up in the last two hours? I did have like 14GB free now I only have 2.66 GB free??? and I dont have any more programes or anything. I have ran disk clean up and defrag and it made no difference???"

On DVD FLICK it always comes up mplex.exe has stopped working at the "COmbine Sources" Part, then when it gets to Author DVD it comes up with the dvdauthor.exe has stopped working, A problem caused the programme to stop working correctly, Windows will close the programe and notify you if a solution is available.

Heres the error code
