I never really took to the online in ACB and the fact that the trophies seem like they would take hours made me abandon it. But for ACR the trophies actually looked doable in a short time frame so I gave it a shot and end up liking the game.

Had ACB had more manageable trophies I might have discovered to joys of online Assassins Creed a game earlier.

I agree awards are better as you actually gain content like unlocking themes, gamerpics, clothing and props for the avatars. It's a more rewarding way of dealing with achievements.

The best one I got was the pink Depeche Mode T-shirt in Left 4 Dead 2 for carrying the gnome through the entire stage, it was just so fun from start to finish!

Holds hand up. Yes I hunt trophies, It's made me play and finish games that I would never have played before. Assasins Creed and Uncharted being two examples.

However sad people may think it is, it's not as sad as buying a Platinum trophy set of ebay!!!
Seriously, no matter how bad you are no trophy set is worth not playing a game and buying!

I like to get as many achievements as possible, draw the line at going all out for the 1000G at any price though.

Having to use every gun in a game, getting so many kills with each is a good example of the achievements I like, they encourage you to use all the weapons and not rely on your favorite.

Hate online achievements, they should be banned.

I feel the same way, when I start a new game | do look for whether you get points for doing it on the hardest setting but I do think it is a little bit sad to go for the 1k when you have to play through the game 7 times to see every ending. I dont mind online achievements but no one plays any games online most of the time!

Heavy Rain had an 'All Endings' trophy where you had to play the game again from specific chapters (quite time consuming). It was rewarding though.

I wish the system Ubisoft uses was applied to trophies/achievements, for earning a U-Play achievement you get points which you can spend in the U-Play store to buy outfits for characters, extra levels, more health slots, extra carrying capacity ect.

The best we get with the trophy systems is opening up a few HOME outfits tied to unlocking a trophy in a handful of games which is next to useless. Who cares about a stupid outfit for something outside of the game your actually playing. (And by the sounds of it the 360 is just as bad but instead of crap for HOME you get crap for your Mii)

If by the end of my play through of a game I have manged to unlock most of a games trophies I might find out what is missing and try to get 100% but if looks like it will take a long time or another complete play through I dont bother.

Yeah, it seems MS are probably answering the recent changes made to Sony's Playstation+ package with a few things of their own. Sony offers a lot of great deals with their package, even if it is only a glorified rental service.

Well how rude, everybody (well most) on these gaming forums refer to me as DT!

Sit in the corner and think about what you've done!

I jest

Yeah I sometimes have a desire for getting achievements but only if I feel like it.

If Sony took note you can bet your life it'll be Plus+ users that reap the rewards. Unless they decide to play fair for a change.

fair? like being forced to pay that £30+ a year to play online fair?

Sony have offered a subscription option which gives you a bunch of free A, AA and AAA titles. pretty damn fair already if you ask me.

Anyway, I checked my stats with a gamercard site this week and I average about 18% of trophies collected actross all the games I've played, so no, I'm not much of a trophy hunter.

No who cares about a virtual nob score. Once you ve finished a game you ve finished. Ive no interest in flying about in level 20 for 5 mins just to get 10g.

Achievement/trophy hunters care i thought that would be obvious by now

Also by going for the achievements/trophies you get more out of a game if you are happy to part with your cash and not fully play a game more power to you, but you are missing out

Take Bully on xbox 360 for example if you just play the game and leave it you have played about 50-60% of the actual game but by going for the achievents you will earn the other % of the game completion

Would you take the same attitude with an older game? would you go for 100% of a vice city or would you do multiple playthroughs of final fantasy 7 just to see how things can play out different or would you play a sonic and once you are done not go back and play again for the chaos emerads, if you would go for everything alls you have to show for it is a save file that you literally have to show people, wouldn't it be nicer to have trophies which show people what you have done

I'm often looking for a reason to continue playing a game I have completed and trophies provide me with extra challenges.

For example in Assassins Creed 2 I would never have normally collected every feather but as It was a trophy I decided to take up the challenge.

For me its simple, before trophies I was the type of gamer who tried to complete all the challenges in Goldeneye to open every cheat or to get all 120 stars out of Mario 64 or achieve 100% complete on GTA3. The trophy "challenge" list basically extends that type of thing to every game I play.

I'm glad others have stuck their oar in about this comment. It's the meta games and extra replay that really add to the experience of playing games. Prior to this I very rarely finished a game ... in fact I found the whole gaming thing very disposable and towards the end of the last gen couldn't find anything I hadn't bought or played ... now I still have games from last year I need to play, which will by now be a really cheap alternative when I have finished whats currently in my machine. Admittedly it's not for everyone but to criticise this in the way you did in that comment is a tad off IMO.

It's a collective game score as opposed to a score within a game i.e COD, so I don't see what's wrong with it, or why some seem to mock it.

Chasing any sort of score could be called a virtual nob score, couldn't it?
