Unused Corrie sets

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't there a few houses we haven't seen inside yet - next to the old butcher shop?

You are right there are a couple of small houses there which i don't think have ever been seen on screen, there are also quite a few empty flats around too.

I do wonder if we will see more of these sets when the move happens.

That hospital set hasn't been used in days now!

Come on Corrie, we're used to one character a week being in there.

What about the doctors, the chippy, the butcher's and the kebab shop. All are hardly ever used. What a waste of set space.

Isn't one of the houses next to the butchers where Julie and Brian live now?

Great thread!

The entire Victoria Street set - apart from Roy's Rolls - has been a total flop since its inception.

I guess, however, that it does reflect the economic downturn with shops, houses and flats sitting empty.

Other sets we rarely see these days:
  • Emily's house
  • No.13.
  • The cab office

They should turn the Butchers into a chemist, would make for some good humour plots like Norris going in for some cream for his piles, Ken buying viagra etc

I'm guessing with Eileen back on the switch board I think we'll probably get to see the cab office again soon?

Well you all know why.....

ITV NEWS
Coronation Street Bosses today announced that due to popular demand, Philip Collinson has decided to scale production back to just one set. It is thought viewers are desperate to see more of long standing Queen of the Cobbles, Stella Price. This has meant that other sets on Corrie have become surplus to requirements as the production crew concentrate and extending the Rovers back room. This is now where most of the action will take place, with characters being invited "through the back" by Ms Price. Philip Collinson, 22, said today "We are delighted viewers have taken Stella to their hearts in their billions. This has meant that we are refocusing the show slightly by removing all other sets, except the Rovers, as this is where we believe the future of the show lies".

Sorry, couldn't resist.

What was the set used the other day?

Where Faye was selling flowers? - outside a tram station? It has been used a few times before I think when Julie had her bag stolen, I just wondered is that set within the Granada Studios or is it an actual place?

They should use that more, I like it.

We hardly ever see;

- The surgery
- The chippy
- Victoria Court (20 apartments)!!!!!
- Emily's (No.3)
- We hardly ever see Tracy's anymore as well. (No. 13)

At the opposite side of the area is where Britney's strip club is

Back in 2008ish, Victoria Street seemed pretty central to the show, apparently they plan to do something with the Butchers eventually, I think not using it though is sort of a commentary on how there is empty shops all over, same with Se7enth Hea7en

I guess the reason why we never see Emily's house anymore is because, for obvious reasons, Eileen Derbyshire has scaled back her time filming - it's possibly easier for the production team to have Emily sat in the Rovers for the few scenes that the actress films every month. It's more preferable than taking the time to construct the set of No. 3 for only a couple of small scenes, before taking it down again and not using it for months.

The only way we'd see No. 3 again is if they gave Emily a mini-storyline seeing her confined to her house or something.

Speaking of unused sets - anyone else notice Rita's flat on-screen this week? I wonder when it was last seen before this year.

Also, why does everyone bar the Barlows seem to have the same fancy wooden kitchen units?!

Of course - forgot our little Mr. McIntyre. Have you seen Gail's tiles in the new kitchen that he fitted for her? I just noticed them last week in one of the close up shots - they look soooo pants.

Thanks for brightening up my day.

Can't wait to see this new format. Will they retitle the programme 'Through the Back with Stella' I wonder?

I don't think that we've seen her flat since it was rebuilt following the tram crash.
