did any of the old writters return to new who?

did any of the old writers or producers who worked on the classic doctor who return when it came back in 2005?

Not the for tv show. RTD said Douglas Adams would have been asked, were he not dead.

Not the TV Series, he did write some books (a couple of 10th Doctor ones I think).

so none returned then given doctor who only ended in 1989 i presume afew of 7 6 and 5 writers are still alive would it not have helped the show bringing them back

The show seems to be doing ok without them. Still I would love Terrancw Dicks to do one. I guess the style and pacing is very different.

At least we got old series director Graeme Harper directing new stuff.

While not Classic Who writers all the following NuWho writers had published DW stories prior to 2005.
  • RTD
  • Steven Moffat
  • Paul Cornell
  • Mark Gatiss
  • Gareth Roberts
  • Matt Jones

Cornell has, (or at least had in 2010, dunno if it still applies) a 'golden handcuffs' deal with DC Comics, meaning he couldn't work for anyone else.

i was just looking at the episodes he directed both doomsday and journeys end aswell as many more even winning a welsh bafta for doomsday moffat would be mad not to use him
