If you say so, looks like a minor victory in Total People to me. However if you look at the key demographics, Secret Millionaire only had 262,000 16-34s. Whilst I don't have the exact figure for yesterday, Big Brother will have had nearly 500,000. If you're an advertiser looking to target young viewers which is more attractive by some distance?

Clear BB suffered from Spanish & Italian restaurant staff following their teams in Euro 2012 and celebrating their victory.

The ratings will be up soon, got to say, it's doing well for Ch5 despite being up against the Euros. When the Euro finishes, BB can only go up really unless BB gets very boring... but it's brilliant at the moment. |

That's what promotion does. It has nothing to do with quality. I have not seen a HL show being advertised since last week, while Secret Millionaire had an ad airing in every single Ch4 break.

There's been 20 second trails for every single highlights show on C5 for over a week now. They normally air in and around their 8pm show. It's a shame they can't get these out a bit earlier in the evening but obviously this is as soon as they can do it.
It will be interesting to see what effect the winding down of the football has on BB. The show could make some gains amongst male viewers in particular. It's not as if the other channels have loads of tempting options on offer, with BBC One and ITV1 very much in summer mode now and airing mostly filler or repeats. |

endemol and C5 and previous C4 know a lot of people tune in for the launch theres always nearly a huge drop then settling down to the Core followers. Its that core following is shifting and this has always been the problem since C5 took the show.they NEVER listen they come out with statements nothing to backup what they said. 'the shows moved on' how did they work that out??? We have a collection of HM's that just love stayingup late in the night they rely on Twitter for updates but the person doing the tweets is gone by 2am loads of events not even covered in the h.l show.Worse this is going to get the warning signs are there for week 2 sort it out. |

I don't think promotion is the issue really, because look at Kitchen wars on channel 5, that was SO heavily promoted, on the main channels at peak time eg ITV during corrie and it didn't even hit 1 mill. Obviously they could promote a bit more, but there has to be another problem for the ratings going slightly down?

Big Brother has been going since 2000. By now the viewers know its on every night. It doesn't need promotion after the first couple of days because if people want to watch it, they will. When it got shunted around the schedule towards the end on Channel 4 without notice, viewers still followed and found it. It only needs promotion for big episodes where something notable has happened overnight.

And this will also worsen BBs ratings if ANY team face BB in the later stages (quarters, semis and final), no matter if England are in it or not, but if it is directly against BB on those stages, BB would be screwed. Right now, BB is holding it's own quite impressively. |

Pantsgate was also a big event. BB5 fight night for example, it wasn't out of the press each day and Channel 4 used to always advertise it anyway, yet fight night still got higher ratings than the shows leading up and following. Its more to do with what is going on rather than the promotion itself.

Back to 1.4s again. Quite frustrating I have to say. Third night in a row now. Note there will be no C4 comparisons today because C5 beat C4 in primetime.
How was last night's episode? I wasn't able to watch last night's live but it's waiting for me on my box when I get home. |

I tend to watch it on demand as I am out most nights, does On demand count in the ratings?

I think if it stays between 1.4 - 1.6m then that will be fine. |

Thanks for that! Interesting that mondays episode would round up to 2 million! Very good ratings for channel 5 indeed.
