I agree OP - on launch night he was one of my favourites, but my liking for him slowly deteriorated as the show went on (I never disliked him though, was just indifferent) but now I like him again. I think he's a bit misunderstood and I love his sense of humour, just a shame we didn't see much of it in the first week or so. Oh and the fact that he actually has braincells which is more than most of the others could say.

Having said that I don't really mind who stays so I won't be voting. I think it's a certainty that he'll go on Friday- if only someone else was up instead, there are far worse people in the house than these two.

I think that Benedict already makes uncomfortable viewing, that's why I want to see him go on Friday. It has nothing to do with his shower antics, but I really cannot stand the way he is so superior to the younger members of the house. I don't find him interesting at all, he seems to be an Aaron wannabe, and I couldn't stand him either!

Lauren should stay, I think she will find her feet in there plus I think that is a lot of Lauren that we haven't seen yet. That said, I would back just about anyone over Benedict - he is my least favourite.

The deciding factor for me is which one of them has more to offer in the longer term in as far as entertainment and value and also perhaps changing the dynamic of the show.

I like Lauren but she doesn't entertain me. She's a nice person but not very interesting in what she does or says. (BTW I feel the same about the majority of the hms, not just Lauren). I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt by taking away the downers that she's had in there. The only storyline she has now is the one where it's her versus the other girls (also bland). So even if this was resolved, what exactly does Lauren have to offer that's different from them? Not much imo.

Benedict on the otherhand, causes controversy and divides people's opinions without it leading to any type of sympathy vote. I think he has more potential in terms of entertainment and change in the house. He's a unique, but marmite character that will likely affect other (safe) hms by causing them uncomfortable moments and not give them the easy ride that they think they are in there for. I could go on. I just find him the more interesting hm of the two and hope he stays for that reason.

I've a feeling they might pull something similar this year, I think they'd be willing to sacrifice Arron, Conor or Sara.

they wont sacrifice Arron cos he'll sign his own exit by keep being annoying and the public/ tweenies will send many votes in to swell the CH5 coffers to either save or get rid

Sara they might cos she isnt that interesting so stick her as an extra in a 3 way vote - could also up the the CH5 coffers with a few more votes

Exactly. The fact that she doesn't hold a grudge against them (and she'd have every right to IMO) just shows how nice she really is. All she wants to know is why they don't like her, and no-one can give her a reason. I don't blame her for trying to join in the fun. She's not going to gain anything by moping in the corner. She shouldn't have to miss out on something just because others don't like her.

She's being her and she's not changing just because others don't like her. And someone mentioned how she keeps leaving her friends to join in with them. The only real friend she really has in there seems to be Luke. Deana may spend time with her, but she's not a friend. Neither is Lydia.

I thought it interesting that one of the nominators gave the reason for nomming Lauren was she constantly complained about the food, and what does she do - go in the diary room yesterday and moan she couldnt eat sandwiches. although I do feel sorry for her, we dont see all that is going on and if nobody likes you there has to be a reason. I would like Benedict to say as I thnk he is a stronger character but Lauren will deffo get the sympathy vote on Friday.

Yes, Lauren does whine and as far as I'm concerned wouldn't be missed but Benedict is very witty and dry, the Baaaaing, sheep speech in diary room, first time I've laughed all series have we all forgotten Arron last year, he seemed quiet and even boring and aloof yet won

I really like Lauren however I do find the whole situation with her uncomfortable viewing. She doesn't deserve to be disliked IMO however she is being targeted and she can't handle not being liked/accepted so for the sake of the poor girls sanity and well being I think maybe it would be best if she does go on Friday!

Benedict can handle the heat and he will take what they have to dish out on him like water off a ducks back!

It's Such a shame, these two shouldn't be up anyway!

That's the problem with her, she NEEDS to do that(hold grudge) to some level for some people, its healthy and they don't desever friendship. Personally I think she is a few sandwiches short of a picnic she comes across a bit ...anyway I rather Ben to stay too. He is witty and I rather say look rather dashing in that white lab coat.

I like Lauren very much, but do wish she would stop wanting to be every HM's best friend. So far she has whined and moaned so much that I now want Benedict to remain. I liked him at first, but he went too quiet and authoritarian for my liking. However, since watching him in the diary room I found him amusing and terribly witty. So that is it for me....He gets my vote to stay.

I like Lauren and voted for her in the DS poll but I'm another who has changed their mind. Don't know if Benedict is getting a better edit or if he was always funny.

I think Benedict does make better viewing, I think big brother would prefer Benedict to stay hence the story of Lauren being miserable, according to peoples nominations Lauren had been moody since the start but bb didn't show us that side of her character, I'm sure Benedict is still boring the pants off everyone but because they want him to stay they have shown the bitchy side to him

I don't think you have changed your mind, I think big brother edit has changed it for you

A very good point. I didn't think of it like this and don't think she has.

I like Lauren but seeing her miserable and crying is not entertaining. Also, she is irritating when she gripes about food. She eats bacon rolls but she "can't eat bread". I suspect she's very unhappy, and feels sorry for herself, but I find it grating.

Benedict is the very first "porn star geek" (as someone on here described him the other day) we have had, and he's extremely articulate, intelligent and is 100% alpha male but also a bit of a loner. He's about fighting the status quo - my kind of housemate. His impersonations are hilarious and contrast vividly with his deadpan expression. We need someone who will stick it to the alpha-gang. Benedict scares them with his wit, and calm, controlled, measured, serious and insightful offerings. I hope that Benedict stays. It's so refreshing to have someone who is articulate and smart on there.

Agreed. I really don't want either of them to go. I wish Sara or Ashleigh were going instead. Such a shame!

I still prefer Benedict to Aaron, and I don't much like Benedict. I feel that Benedict is more outspoken to people outside the diary room and less of a snake.

I don't think he's anything like Aaron from last year. Aaron was hilarious without meaning to be and kind of innocent, not like the world weary "I know everything about everything" Benedict. Lauren to stay!

It really is all in the edit, isn't it? They show one episode of her being whiny & him being funny and all of a sudden, people want to keep him in.

I wonder who they want us to save

The edits play a huge role in how people respond. However, I am aware that Lauren isn't doing well. She's miserable and sad, and I have to say her complaining about bread versus bread rolls/bacon rolls does my head in. I want to see the alpha gang being taken to task, and Benedict is the one who will do it and is doing it.

Again, maybe many others are regularly taking the alpha-gang to task and they are not showing it, but then the alpha-gang would bitch about that, and we would know that something had transpired. Therefore, it's likely the others aren't taking the alpha-gang to task, and right now it's just Benedict who is doing this.

we are not actually seeing enough of what's gone on in there to make Lauren think no-one likes her..If you watch Lydia doing her stuff on Deanna this week it might be a clue as to what happened to Lauren last week. Lydia is feeding Deanna stories that other people don't like her or have been talking about her so Deanna is handling it by avoiding talking to those people that Lydia has pointed out to her..This could prompt people to vote for Deanna cos they now have a valid reason. Anyone else think Lydia could have been behind the 'no-one likes Lauren' story and Lauren handled it differently by becoming paranoid?
