I think he'll be the 'not very good but likeable' sportsman (a la Phil Tufnell, Gavin Henson, Robbie Savage)

Yes he might be quite good.... although I have a horrible feeling he will be a bit marmite and cocky - like Dan Lobb (better than Dan obviously but whether he is likeable - the jury is out).

I listen to him on Test Match Special and he likes a good laugh ...he never comes across as cocky on that...I look forward to seeing him on Strictly..

I like Michael Vaughan, so that's a good one for me. He's got quite a dry humour at times though which may get mistaken for arrogance by some of the viewers.

Id be pleased if he was alikeable - but dry sense of humour guy....

Good luck to him - if he has in fact signed....

Id say Natalie ... unless there is another taller guy who ends up signing.

Im a bit fed up with the whole "sportsmen for Erin" malarky if the truth be known.

Personally I thought the pairings last year were ok (apart from Blulu and Brendan (obviously)) so hopefully the same person behind the scenes will do the pairings up this year. (ok from an entertaining point of view).

Regardless of how good he is I think Vaughn will go far if he signs up - cricketers usually have big fan bases! If it is true it's great they've managed to get cricketer because it's been a long time since Ramps.

I don't think they'll put him with the new pro because from the pic it looks like he's married and I'm thinking the new pro will be getting the hot, single male for a showmance

Vaughan has tweeted
"Not everything you read is true tweeple....."
So maybe not...

I'd love him to do it, he's funny, and game for anything. He is a bit wooden though - his nickname was Virgil (from Thunderbirds!)

There would be a lovely irony if MV did SCD. Darren Gough did it when he was not playing for England, supposedly with a knee injury. Jonathan Agnew interviewed Michael Vaughan on the radio from wherever England were touring at the time and MV was clearly furious. Aggers asked him if he was watching Strictly and the response was short and sweet "no, I prefer the X Factor on the other side"

I wonder if he will do it.......some of them do deny it then go on to do it......Robbie Savage played 'the rumours aren't true' game last year and now Charlie Brooks has said she isn't doing it .....not sure if they're genuinely denying it or just throwing people off the scent!

I've just been listening to Test Match Special on 5Live sports extra and heard them talking about Michael going on Strictly. I'm really pleased to hear this as a huge England cricket fan. I met him a couple of years ago as he was leaving a book signing and he was happy to stop for a photo. I follow him on twitter and he's pretty funny. He was going to the Oval yesterday to work on the latest ODI for TMS and his pants split when bending down on the train so he had to buy some £10 ones when he got to London, it was really funny and he actually posted a picture of him in his split pants. I think he'll be a great character and having read his books I think he's really a driven person and will want to do the best he can. I am keeping everything crossed he gets Natalie, she would get the best out of him and, I think, appreciate his hard working nature. Please make this pairing happen BBC.

I really hope it's true about Michael Vaughan; he's always seemed very lovely when I've been forced to listen to cricket in the car! Love for him to be with Natalie.

EDIT: And I'm not going to take his denial at face value after Robbie last year.

I don't think Steve would do it - and that is a shame because he has a strong enough fanbase to win - if he can move his feet in time to music that is

If he could he may well have been the oldest ever winner

If we are due a snooker player I would think John Parrott is the more likely condidate

The only thing is, I think he would've been great with Katya, I think their humour would have been a good match.

Rishi Persad seems like a good candidate. Along with Clare Balding.

I reckon they'll pull out a big name this year, someone like Russell Brand or Helen Mirren.

he could be paired up with any one of the pro ladies - the BBC dont seem to take height into consideration for tall men anymore!!!

Ola and Andrew Castle spring to mind - during their ballroom dances Andrew was practically bent double over Ola
