Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD *First look*

http://www.xblafans.com/a-visual-loo...ade-44007.html

That video right there has me itching to play it, the amount of time I spent on THPS 2 is untrue.

I wonder if they'll keep the soundtracks? I think THPS 3 played the best but THPS2 had the best tracks so it's great they are plucking the best bits from the entire series and putting it into one game.

Hope it's more like pro skater 2 on dreamcast that really was the best Tony hawks ever made in my opinion.

Why only post this in the Xbox section? The games coming to PSN at the same time and I'm sure a PC version will be along later down the line.

I read it on XBLAFans.com but it wasn't fully confirmed. The official date now is 18th July.

Will that be the same for the PSN then?

No idea. Since it's part of the Summer of Arcade promotion it's probably unlikely but you never know.

The official Facebook page describes it as "coming to PSN a few weeks after" so I guess PlayStation users won't get their hands on it until August.

Microsoft like to throw their toys out of the pram if they don't get games early or with extras. Look at the hoops they made the developer of the Oddworld remake jump through to get on XBLA and then they still told them to **** off

They did that because the game came out on PSN first and the PS3 version is getting extra features, Microsoft don't like it when Indie's do that, that's pretty much saying you're as good as dead to them!

Seems to be a problem with this as no-one is able to buy it for some reason. The demo is playable however it's extremely stingy (won't even let you have a 2 minute run). Other things I've noticed, the game looks nice and sharp, obvious they've really worked on the visuals but it is capped at 30 fps (I've been told it's down to the Unreal Engine), that is disappointing as even THPS2x on Xbox ran at full 60fps as did the following releases which made them feel so great to play.

The HD edition contains 7 levels unlike 2x which features all of them from THPS 1 & 2, so unless you're planning on buying the PC release which hopefully will allow 60fps and still have an Xbox still hooked up that's able to play imports then I'd probably say stick with 2x and 3 if online multiplayer isn't your main concern.

Like all TH games it will promise so much, deliver so little and invariably cost a bomb.

Typical crappy Unreal Engine then.

I don't think the Unreal Engine is crap, far from it, but it's not well suited to this game that's for sure. There's still a lot of fun to be had though, the gameplay is still there but its not the ultimate version of THPS that many were hoping for. IMO anyway as some other people are raving about it, but I'm not so impressed.

Its not crap at all. Its completely up to developers on how well they use the engine. Just look at the many amazing games that have used the engine this gen.

Iv'e not even played the demo yet, but i think i'm going to pass on this. The reason why is because i'm a big fan of the Skate series and still own and play skate 3 now and again. For this reason i find the tony hawks control scheme alien to me now. Iv'e tried to go back to tony hawks games but never seem to enyoy them.

The controls took a bit of getting used to after having played Skate (i kept trying to use the right stick to do tricks) but i'm enjoying the game, it's very nostalgic for anyone who played the originals and it'd say it's definitely worth the 1200 points. I can't really see it appealing to many younger gamers who have been brought up on the Skate games though, it definitely feels like a love letter to the fans of the original games.
