As much as a quite like Jack Osbourne...
Anyone feel like he's going on abit about his MS, yesterday he critcised the media for reporting it but the day before appeared on Piers Morgan and today another newspaper interview about it, just its sad and hopefully it doesn't effect him too much but millions get it, perhaps he should lay low for a bit instead of us hearing what everyone in his family thinks.

His sister, Aimee (the one who refused to appear in the Osbourne reality shows) was taken ill a few years ago, and kept it hush hush...

So when opportunity knocks he's meant to tell it to piss off?
People are willing to pay him to talk about himself. That's a fairly easy earner so it's not surprising he's not saying no particularly since he lost his planned work for Stars Earn Stripes on a US network. |

I hope that him talking about it will not only help raise awareness but also dispel some of the negatives and myths about MS.
But I can't say I'm keen on Sharon Osbourne making it all about her as usual though

More power to Jack.. He is telling the world that just cos he has MS doesn't mean his life is over and that he is going to fight all the way with this disease.. Good for him and by talking so positively he is also raising awareness of the disease

I don't like the Osbournes, especially Kelly and her mother.
But, I have to say all credit to Jack Osbourne. He is not moaning about his illness; he is tryng to show people that a diagnosis of MS doesn't mean your life is over. Plus, as his diagnosis was only publicly revealed very recently, there is bound to be media interest in it. So, I just think good for him. |

Good for Jack for raising awareness of MS, why anyone would have a problem with him talking about his illness baffles me tbh

I wouldn't say he's going on about it, I mean he's not in every newspaper for months like Jade Goody was is he? I've seen two mentions of it altogether, one was the first day it was reported and the other is this thread

I like Jack. He used to be a brat, but he's matured into a very nice young man, and so far he's done good with how he's handled this initial media interest, and I'd never blame someone with a life, or at least career threatening illness from taking the opportunity to put some money away for the future.
However, I still cannot stand his mum (or sister) and I hope she doesn't try to make this all about her. It was bad enough she appeared in the baby photos. If he has sense, now he's done some press about the discovery of his illness, he'll go quiet for a bit, and then at some point in the future once he's more clued up on the subject, come back and use his celebrity to do something a bit more in depth on the condition. He could be a very effective ambassador, and in the meantime, the press can swot up on the subject themselves. |

I agree and I don't wish to offend you but it's stories like yours that I'm talking about. You've obviously seen the negative side but many, many people with MS live long and full lives - life expentancy isn't that much shorter than 'normal' people - and you don't die from having MS - it's usually from complications associated with it.

Sharon, Ozzy and Amy are disgusting people.
I like Jack, and especially Amy...the normal humble ones. |

He's probably done the right thing by making it public, in his case. I've worked with people affected by MS (in a research sense and by volunteering and was misdiagnosed with it myself for ten years). One of the upsetting things they have to cope with is people thinking that they're drunk or 'on something' when their symptoms worsen (i.e. tremor, wobbly gait, slurred speech), especially if those symptoms come and go. Looking at his family history, if JO was seen publicly with any of these symptoms (which may or may not appear, for him), people would jump to erroneous conclusions straight away instead of knowing that he had a serious health condition. It happened with Dudley Moore, who had a neurological condition and the magician Wayne Dobson who also has MS. The fuss will die down, unless he decides to do more publicly to raise awareness, which can only be a good thing. And, yes, his mother should keep well out of how he chooses to deal with it the public eye. |
