I have had mine for 5 days now. I agree, it's an amazing phone. Never had a white phone before, learnt not to read a newspaper before using a white phone! I had the SG2 before, and I think that screen was better. The SG3 screen is slightly grainy compared to the SG2. But I agree, gps is better. Mobile signal is also much better Can't seem to get allshare to work on my pc though. Also, I've lost itv player, which doesn't want to work now. But all in all, its a beautiful phone.

Well I would, because I use my phone a lot more. He never seems to struggle with the battery.

If I was commuting by train, I'd probably go for the Note rather than the S3, bigger phone, even bigger battery.

Er, I'm pretty sure the SGS3 has the superior battery??

I finally got mine last Thursday after 5 week wait, love the phone, but find the battery shocking! Even my 2 year old iPhone 4 lasted longer on a singele charge... I've set the power saving options but still battery goes really fast - approx 1% down every couple of minutes... Is it my battery dodgy or other people experience this?

You have some app that is constantly running, or you have dodgy battery/handset. I have my screen on full brightness, and it uses up no where near that amount of battery. Have a look at your battery stats (settings => battery) and see which app is hogging the battery. Cell standby should be at the top of the list.

Just to bring the whole root/rom issue up from the previous page. I have intalled custom roms an every android device I have - 3 ZTE blades, SE X10, SE Arc, Samsung GNote and a tablet. I reckon I have installed over 100 different roms on these devices. It's sad to say but I enjoy doing it. But it is not for everyone. I once bricked my phone with SEs own software so that is not without risk either.

my battery lasts at least 9 hours with generic use so maybe delete draw something or song pop if you have them installed

Does anyone know when Samsung will be releasing the 32/64GB sim-free variants of the S3? Are we just going to be stuck with 16GB to purchase sim-free in the UK?

I've been waiting ages to buy the phone and i don't want the 16GB! So annoying.

You could buy the 16GB version, and then stick in a 4/8/16/32GB (some sites say 64GB) micro SD card to get extra space. It will work much cheaper than buying a 32/64GB variant of the phone.

Also the phone comes with 48GB of dropbox space, so you dont have to keep everything on your phone. Keep it in the cloud, and download it as and when required. Much safer than having everything on the phone.

I am in the same boat as you, have rooted two phones and a tablet. On each I have installed many a ROM. I, like you enjoy it. Although adding widgets back when you install a new ROM is a bit annoying.

If you follow the instructions to the letter, the chances of bricking your phone are very small, but not zero. For me the reward is greater than the risk. For others it may not be the case.

64GB was always flagged as later in the year, so anyone's guess.

32GB, well there's still the backlog to clear. I pre ordered my (blue) one on the 7th May and finally had the call to say it was in store today so whilst they are getting there I suspect it will still be a while

I heard that this autumn Toshiba will have a major launch of SD cards with 90MB/s speed, read and write.
They share a manufacturing plant with Sandisk who do the 64GB cards.

SD cards, if at that speed could replace hard disks in budget slim Netbooks.

edit - seems to be July and probably priced for those with very expensive cameras.

True and fair point, it will work out cheaper. I'd still rather have 32GB S3 instead and then stick in 64GB card (confirmed it does work!). That would be perfect for me, just my personal preference.

I know Vodafone UK have exclusivity over the 32GB when the S3 was released in the UK and i'm sure it was said they only had exclusivity for the first month. Well the month is up at the end of this week, therefore the 32GB should be available for purchase soon. I hope! Unless they've extended the exclusivity? I don't know.

Only problem with that is that if they want "app space" then the phone memory is more important than the SD card.

It does seem the battery is dodgy as don't have anything running; even wifi is off when I'm not at home... think I'll have to order a new battery through amazon to see if that makes a difference - otherwise I might need to return the headset (unfortunately!)

That's odd. every single app I have downloaded to date has not been able to be moved to the SD card.

Am I doing something wrong?

Not all apps can be moved to the SD card. How are you moving apps?

If the app you are moving has a widget, and you use the widget, you should not move the app to the SD card. Widgets dont work form the SD card.

If the 32GB version is perfect for you then go for that. I was just letting you and others know you can add an SD card incase they didnt know.

Im going to manage applications menu and there is supposed to be a button called "move to SD card", next to the "clear data" button, but every single App I have downloaded to date (quite a lot) has never given me this option.

Perhaps I am just terribly unlucky.

Do you have a confirmed free app that allows it? That way I can test it.

here's a free one that will move to SD card fine (on my Galaxy S2 at least). Quite a handy one as well

Barcode Scanner:

I've also got iplayer, ebay, evernote, flickr, hailo, linkedin, sky news, evening standard all running fine on sd card, amongst others.

Thanks for that.

I guess the problem "apps" are actually the games. They take up huge amounts of space in some cases.

Would be handy if those could be shifted, but none of the ones I have can.
