Sorry, my apologies!

But thanks for answering my question anyway

I think they are staying there while they keep looking for Sophia. I can't believe she has wandered so far away.
After that they should head on and find a big house they can fortify themselves and with land they can live on.
And stock up on bullets too, surely they must be running out soon !

At the minute a swamp surrounds most of hershalls farm so it's acting like a fence because they become stuck. (Hence how Otis rounded up so many so easily and got them into the barn)

However it will soon be summer and the swamp will dry up

That might help, but I don't think it surrounds the farm. They still need to keep a lookout over their tents, for example. They need to keep gates shut, too.

One reason to stay is that Herschel has the best medical care they are likely to find.

Wow what an ep! Seems shane wasnt so keen to shoot after all. I wonder how the group dynamics will change now. Surely there was only one way sophia could have gotten into the barn? And nobody thought to mention it to the group?

I can see if the group carry on that girl will go with them. I cant see herschel letting them stay any longer after that and i cant see them wanting to stay.

They certainly took care of those walkers in the end. I'm not really as saddened by Sophias death as I was with Amy? Andreas sister in the last season.

Wouldn't Otis or Hershel have known that a little girl had been rounded up out in the swamp and put two an two together?

I look forward to the next ep.

Otis would have put Sophia in the barn without knowing who she was, and then he also got killed before he knew the group were looking for a little girl

I've put the following in a spoiler tag although it's not really a spoiler. It's an answer to your question and the show itself provides no such answer; it was provided by the producer (or someone high up) on the talk show which accompanies the program in the US. So it's not strictly a spoiler, but some people may wish to avoid it anyway (though as I say no such answer is actually given in the show itself):

Spoiler

You see, I was even more saddened with Sophia's death. That entire scene was incredibly emotional just witnessing Carol's reaction to seeing her once living, breathing daughter as a walker. In fact, seeing all of the group's expressions just added to the sadness. The hardest hit, in my opinion, would be Carol (Obviously), Rick and Daryl.

I must admit that scene bought tears to my eyes.

Fair enough otis put her in but havent they been regulary feeding them chickens? So there would be a chance that someone noticed a girl in there. Im hoping someone at least brings up how she got in there as im sure they will all be suspicious of each other now.

Last night's episode was one of my favourites and I thought it was incredibly well written and acted. Especially loved the Shane and Dale conflict regarding the guns and then Shane's meltdown to Hershel bringing more walkers onto the farm. Hershel's face when he realised the walker was still coming for Shane after he shot her in the chest several times was great. I don't think Hershel quite realised they were the walking dead! In my opinion this season just gets better from this point onwards.

I think herschel was feeling guilty for endangering his family when he realised how dangerous the walkers are. I think hes a proud man so he wont admit this and will vent his feelings by blaming shane for killing his friends and family. Deep down i think he probably knows they did the right thing.

Im still confused how one man alone could catch a walker and put them in the barn without the others getting out!

Maybe they lower them down from the place they throw the chickens?
Although that begs the question how do they get them up there?

They could have use some sort of hatch system (Akin to an air lock) to put the walkers in there. They use a similar system in Day Of The Dead to capture zombies from the caves to experiment on.

Thanks. I'm just thinking about the timeline of events though. How much time passed between Rick last being with Spohia and Otis shooting Carl?

It can't have been much more than a day since in a later episode Rick tells Hershel that Sophia has been missing for 3 days and that was after Carl had been operated on.

Sophia therefore must not have survived as a human for long before becoming a walker.

The way I've always assumed it to be is that Carl was shot the day after Sophia went missing. I think you're right in that she didn't survive very long. I would guess that more walkers turned up after Rick went after the first two, and Sophia left the 'hovel' at that point (which as we know if before Rick came back for her, and he wasn't gone long). Either that, or she left the hovel thinking Rick had gone for good and encountered the walkers on the way back to the highway. Either way I think Sophia encountered the walker/s that bit her whilst Rick was dealing with the first two, though it does beg the question as to why she was only bitten on the shoulder? She must have gotten away quickly for them just to bite her and not eat any of her (though I'm sure the real reason for this was the writers not wanting her to look too messed up for the big barn reveal). This is why a Sophia flashback would have been brilliant, but I don't know if it's something we will ever get now. It certainly would have answered a lot of questions that we will otherwise have to second guess the answers to though.

Oh and anyone wondering, last nights episode was the last episode before it went on a break in the us for 2 months.
The 2nd half of the season is much better imo

Yep that all sounds right. As for the pace picking up, brilliant. As Shane said they have spent to much time picking Daisies.

I know that you can't expect characters in a programme like this to act rationally, but why did Lori, after complaining about Rick going to find Hershel, then decide to go and help Rick find him?

It was good to see that Rick still has the ability to act decisively when needed - the scene in the bar was very well executed!

She went to go fetch Rick back (she believes he's the father of her child - she needs him to stay alive because she doesn't want to be stuck with Shane, or be alone), not find Hershel.

Great episode, rather glad I stuck with it through the somewhat tedious first half of the season...
