Tonight's Female BBC THREE Continuity Announcer

To paraphrase Nikki Graham from Big Brother 7... Who is she? Where did you find her?

She's trying too hard, her jokes are not funny, her accent is annoying and her pronunciation of words are off and she's putting too much emphasis on the wrong parts of the sentence. I could do a much better job.

Perhaps you should apply for the job then

It wasn't Sarah Millican was it? No, I better not put any ideas into her head. It's maybe just about the only thing she hasn't appeared to do on TV in the past year.....yet!

The BBC still use live continuity on all their channels.

Are you sure? When there was a glitch on BBC4 a few weeks ago - a male continuity announcer came on to apologise when all other programmes had been introduced by a female announcer.

I'm pretty sure all Raio4 Xtra continuity is pre-recorded too.

The giveaway is when you hear "Now on BBC HD, a change to the scheduled programme" without any further details.

BBC3 used to have three CA's, Louise Hulland, Gavin Inskip and Jayne Sharp. All have been replaced by this woman who occasionally pops in live to read comments from viewers during their big shows and pre-recs the rest.

Silly question, but why employ dedicated continuity announcers? It's not as if the premises are empty or there is no-one around with acting skills.

It's always the same woman (who always sounds like she's grinning when she talks). Only when it isn't that woman do you know for sure that it's live.

Why employ them at all. No-one likes them, especially since they started shouting over end credits.

Even when I play my videos of Eldorado from almost 20 years ago, the end credits played out for 90 seconds uninterrupted. That'd never happen now.

Continuity on all BBC channels once merely provided information on the the next programme.

Nowadays they are a branding/selling exercise.

This sort of thing has happened with Orange mobile, at least with PAYG. There is this annoyingly matey husky-voice youngish woman on their voice-systems.

She wants to be your friend... so she can sell you add-ons and such like.

I get the sense that the BBC read the same book on selling time-share as Orange.
