Another fantastic episode!

I am loving the Guardian he's truely awesome!

I'm really enjoying getting more of the Pam & Eric history, and hope they get some more of that in future episodes. Hope Pam goes and stops Tara from frying herself!

I want Alcide to be in the show a lot more than he currently is as I think he is a great character that could have so much more to do if they gave him a chance.

Not much Sam this episode, but hoping for more of him in the coming episodes.

I love that Steve Newlin is the new spokesperson for the vamps! He was ready to pounce on Roman in that one scene.

I agree and when she was torturing Nora there was less resemblance!

I wondered who the fairy, but I never guessed it was Claude.

The child vampire is awful, but he doesn't say much so I can live with that.

I was surprised as well that Godric had told Salome about Nora.

And talk about a creative death for a vampire with the sunbed!

Loved the scene with Alcide and Sookie where she tells him she shot Debbie.

Sorry fellow Fangbangers, but this show has jumped the shark.

Series 1 was excellent.
Series 2 was good.
Series 3 was boring.
Series 4 was slightly better and ended well.
Series 5 has so far been turgid. It's like a soap opera now, too many characters needing a storyline, they all meet each other in every part of history in ever more ludicrous ways, vampires are killed with ridiculous ease, they then come back to life again in a stupid and unbelievable fashion, Tara's ever-tediuos stories become ever more tedious, all werewolves are pathetic rednecks, characters change personality for no good reason. The story meanders all over the place, HBO don't seem to mind so long as there's a quota of 5 pairs of tits per episode.

I'm so sad because I loved this show, but it's become a shambles, I'm afraid.

Do they have to be different pairs or does the same pair more than once count?

Because if it's seperate pairs we're being shortchanged.

I'd agree that 4 was better than 3 and it's never been as good as 1 (the shock of the new and all that), but personally I quite like the multiple story style.

Granted there are some scenes I could do without, and I'd be more than happy to trim Tara and the Sherrif (although I do like him....not her though). But for me there's no shark in sight, sorry. Hmm, surely can't be long till a wereshark turns up mind

I think 3 episodes is a little too soon to be complaining that the story meanders, it's needs time to put all the pieces in place first.

(I certainly agree that they overdo the redneck thing though, my wife reads the books and tells me a lot of the characters are far less rednecky in those)

I have nothing against breasts, I just don't want them pushed in my face... what am I saying, of course I do!!!

I wouldn't be surprised if Tara becomes a jumping shark in the next series.

I think this show is every bit as good as it used to be. I do agree some of the subplots need taking out of the equation but the main plots have been interesting so far.

I'm a bit confused how Sookie could read Sam so clearly, I though Shifters minds were jumbled and weird to her? That said, my memory is rubbish, I may well be wrong on that.

I enjoyed the whole expanded vampire senses scene for Tara, other than that she seemed pretty much like her normal annoying self, with fangs and blood-lust. If Pam doesn't save her, someone will.

Nice bit of (uncomfortable) background on Jason, trouble is, no matter how many revelations he has, it only seems to last a few episodes, hopefully this will stick?

Pam and Eric flashback was good, pre Sookie-whipped Eric was so cool

Not sure where the whole Terry thing is going, but it needs to get there!

I feel the Terry story has great potential but he only gets one scene a week..........Haven't like Tara or her storylines since season 2!! Alcide is wildly under-used!! Christopher Meloni has been great, although everytime he comes on screen I think 'Stabler'!! Should never have killed off Jesus. Even though I like the character of Sam they seem to be going nowhere with him this season.

Granted, it's only 3 episodes in and I believe the season the has the potential to be good one!!

Also, Steve Newlin quickly becoming one of my favourites.

Well, I'm loving it.

Actually season 1& 3 were my favourites and I thought the last season was dire. I was convinced they lost it.
But I'm absolutely loving season 5. It's all a matter of personal taste.

I'm bored with Jason now. In fact I've never really liked that character.

Well the True Blood wiki claims that he is 500 years old, but I have no idea where that information comes from. I don't recall it being mentioned in the episodes so far. Does the character exist in the books?

Assuming Salome is the Salome, then she is said to have been born around 14AD so we can date her (and who wouldn't want to ) at around 1,998 years old.

That still makes Russell Edgington (at 2,800 years old) the big man. I seem to recall Eric stating that Russell was generally believed to be the oldest (and strongest) vampire in the world.

Roman doesn't exist in the books at all and neither do Salome or Nora either. They're new characters for the show.

I can't imagine Roman being five hundred. He has to be older than that. Close to Russell or Salome's ages at least.

That's what I thought, my wife has read all the books and usually makes little comments about what happens to them in the books and she made no such comment about the council.

I originally typed up the post to say we hadn't been given any information on his age, but then a quick google found the wiki site which dated him. It doesn't source it's information, so I assumed I had missed something in one of the episodes.

I have to agree, I only saw two episodes so far, but I had to force myself to finish them. I am still watching though, hoping.

Makes me laugh when people criticise the tv show... if you only knew how appalling the book source material is, you'd be declaring the TB scriptwriters as creative geniuses!

I am really enjoying it so far. Particularly loving:

* Eric and Bill bromance
* Pam having more plot
* Jason realising that his life is shallow
* Pam
* The authority
* Pam's flashbacks
* Pam
* Pam's one liners
* Pam

Not sure about Terry's storyline but willing to see where it goes.

IIRC she can't read them as easily as human, but she can still do it a lot of the time.

Just like Eric I don't care about vampire politics and I hate every second of it. I find Tara extremely annoying, shifter/werewolves, don't care much. For me this programme was the best when it was an ensemble show with the characters interacting with each other. For several seasons now, they each get a little circle of characters they interact with and it just does not glue together into something I could enjoy. Yes, there are good things, I like Pam, she makes me laugh. And I love the southern accents, but for me all good little things do not add up into one big good thing.

I actually have a lot of sympathy for Tara, considering the horrible life she's actually had and while that doesn't justify her snapping at people from time to time, I at least know where she's coming from. Plus her storyline has been the best one this season, along with the Pam/Eric flashbacks.

Loving True Blood.

Pam is excellent. Also Steve Newlin is cool.

Tara is annoying me. She should have just died Cannot see where they are going to go with her character.

I must be in the minority in that I really like Tara.
Pam scenes are always fun.
Eric and Bill getting friendlier is cool to see.
Who was that person Jessica was chasing after? By the way he smelled im guessing he was a fairy?
It seems as though they are really deviating from the books with this season, the others all had several similarities with the corresponding book but this season seems completely different.
