Surely there's enough popular indie bands which are too soft rock for Scuzz and Kerrang? Few examples like Coldplay, Brandon Flowers, Momford and Son, The Vaccines Beady Eye, Noel Gallagher, Snow Patrol? I actually discovered two of these bands on music channels as pop channels had yet to play the videos.

But all of these are top ten bands. Why do I have to sit through pop just to wait on one indie song on Chart Show TV of The Box?

Indie and dance are neglected genres over the years. Dance Nation is now hopeless and will no doubt become a pop channel. They can't all get viewers showing pop music so sooner or later some of the pop channels have to go.

I've already tuned to DAB and YouTube as music tv is now so stale. I remember a few years ago people were downbeat when VH2 and The Amp were axed. Arguably superior offerings to what we have now. Perhaps of the broadcasters put some effort in all music channels could keep therr audiences?

So what's the alternatives now? I'm sure Q radio left sky years ago too.
There seems to be a complete lack of new bands out there. Most of the ones you mentioned have been going for years. It seems to me that less people are interested in guitar music these days. Isn't that why all the festivals are getting cancelled or getting more mainstream acts on?

Well that's Q away by next week.

Looks like MTV Rocks is the only option.

Hope another network launches. Bring back P-Rock.

Oh I do wish that you would give it a rest. P-Rock closed nearly 10 years ago, it is NEVER coming back and neither is NME.

How will MTV Rocks feel that they'll no longer have proper competition from next week?

Looking at Q's old playlist there's no music channel playing these videos now.

Really need a decent rock or indie channel as MTV Rocks is not delivering decent audiences as its not a good playlist.

I do miss NME TV greatly. There is just no outlet for fresh new music to get on TV. The only way seems to be through Jools Holland or Jo Whiley's shows. Many believe indie is dead, but it isnt, its there but the music industry doesnt want it to be successful. My utopia would be the excellent 6Music on TV.

Really need an indie band channel.

Hardly any channel covers Oasis, Coldplay and The Killlers now.

Last time I looked at a music channel it was either grotty US teen programming or 10 minutes of adverts for every couple of videos.

I built my own collection of music videos from the Apple Store and now I have the perfect music channel.

If you want new stuff, listen to 6Music and download the videos for the tracks you like.

Or just go on Youtube and line them up for an evening's viewing!

Yep, that or Vimeo.

So in conclusion, music television has had its day.

The former head of MTV Europe Brent Hansen said pretty much the same thing in a very interesting interview. He thinks that in future music TV ratings will be very small and it will be hard to make money from it as it's all available for free online. But he added that there'll always be people who will use music TV as a way to discover new videos/artists.

Indie and Alternative have become non-mainstream makes sense for TV channels not play it cause they all want just mainstream music.

I listen to http://www.sky.fm/indierock
