As a character I thought he was a waste of space - it was like they introduced him, then had no idea what to do with him. Don't even think he ever had a major storyline of his own.

Totally agree. Matthew was a great character and it seemed a bit OTT to kill him off as the younger vet son (forgotten his name now) was killed in a car accident wasn't he? I don't know if it's what the actor wanted but if so he shouldn't have got his own way because, as you say, he could have come back with a different head eventually.

He also had a bit of a fling with Debbie, and his exit storyline was to do with the cleaner Orlena (think that was her name) who Sam fancied and yet Eli got with her.

I have a few bits of much needed advice for various Characters.
1) Do not keep secrets it is almost impossible for any Dingle to keep a secret for any length of time without one Dingle blabbing to another their inner most secrets.

Warning if a Dingle does keep a secret its leads to tragedy and Madness see Zack for Example.

2) Workers in Factory see what happens when you go to work you actually manage to get some work done, there see you can do it.

3) Ali unless Ruby has the magical ability to turn every Straight woman into a lesbian you have no need to worry and no need to be jealous.

4) Ruby don't go anywhere near Loopy, she is evil and will drag you down to hell, see what she did to the previously saintly Vicar.

5) Nikhil not all news is bad news sometimes someone is going to tell you good news.

6) Gennie tell Nikhil the news quicker next time so he doesn't get paranoid. Also tell Cain about Cameron and Chas, the sooner those two a beaten to within the inch of their lives the better.

7) Yes leave Cam and Chas go far far away where you do not have to bother me with your endless debates over whether or not to stay together.

Amy don't bother with your birthday something bad always happens at special Birthday which is why your best friend Victoria probably didn't bother and stay away from long forgotten relatives.
