As soon as I saw the people stealing charity clothes, I said to the gf that they would be Romanian.

NICE of him! "I'll stick my dick in your face" - you *don't* say that to a charge officer...

They will be let out on bail and disappear. We get them around here nicking clothes out of bins at the supermarkets, and sending their children begging to take your trolley back to pocket the pound coin.

Then they sell the clothes at the car boot sales or ship them off to be sold.

Should've had a few more dogs and let them savage them a bit more

No further charges as they couldn't prove ownership of the clothes.

Funny that because if the clothes were in the bin, they are the property of that charity. If they took them from inside the bin they are stealing.

Had ‘em bang to rights on camera and still they walk. Police spend half their day chasing people who they know will end up going free because it costs too much to lock them up. That’s the real reason scum like that get off and then no doubt had the clothes handed back to them with an apology to boot!

I blame Jamie Theakston.

Was it just me watching today? I wonder why they showed the uncovered body of the cyclist, would probably be recognisable by his relatives.

No doubt the family of the deceased probably gave them permission for it to be shown, but I watched that programme as well. I felt for the young girl who did hit him as it was a dark road and he had been drinking and riding a bike with no lights is just asking for trouble.

I'm thinking that the 2 episodes shown so far are part of last years 'Traffic Cops' series, carried over into this year..as the tax discs I've noticed on the various windscreens all have last year on them ?
Prefer having Traffic Cops spread over a period of time instead of a dozen episodes bunched together.

Have to admit I was surprised they showed the body uncovered as well before the watershed.

Exactly. I felt full sympathy for the young girl driver (only 18) who would no doubt take some time to get over that accident. But her father 'did the right thing' by telling her to call the Police immediately and thankfully they treated her with all due respect.

Hopefully what happened will serve as a strong and severe message to all cyclists who feel they are above the law by riding without any lights. A totally stupid and irresponsible habit which has become all too common now.

A thoroughly entertaining “Chav Special” last night and isn’t it reassuring to discover that I could spend my day publically drunk in Luton town centre before kicking the shit out of someone and setting my dogs on them, steal police property, attempt to escape police custody and then end up with a paltry 4 week (out in 2) sentence and get my devil-dogs back at the end of it (having been housed at the taxpayer’s expense in the meantime no doubt).

I’m off to buy a Staffie and a crate of Super Tennant’s so Luton beware!

How disappointing was that last night?

I always regard Traffic Cops as something of the daddy of UK cop reality shows but last night's was such a letdown: what with our friend above, a bloke who stole the shop letters from a local Ladbrokes, two frequent absconders from a Herts childrens home and two trouble makers at Leagrave rail station. It was hardly Crimewatch.

I think if I had been the controller at BBC1, I would have gone back to the programme makers and said "no thanks".

I gave up Partridge (which I recorded) for that.

I live in Luton and i think its good the way they show everything the police have to deal with, its not high speed car chases and big drugs busts, this is the reality of policing

Yes that section of the programme should be used to show the real people that benefit reform and prison sentencing should be dealing with.

The same with the lad caught stealing from Mothercare.

These people are a blight on society and need dealing with, but nothing is happening to them.

Several of the police pointed out that traffic officers have to deal with trivial matters because there is often no one else around.

It's probably not a case of those nasty Tories reducing numbers but a steady reduction over the years and too many officers sitting in the police station doing paperwork - I suspect mainly the latter because they did seem to find reinforcements eventually which suggests they were there but not involved in operation matters.

Also even when they catch people they get trivial sentences and are soon back on the streets again. With some of the ones they encounter it makes me think there is something in the American Three Strikes policy as those people are just going to continue offending.

The main observation about Luton last night was that every single case involved substance abuse, but only one was illegal.
